Question on protein shakes

Hi,
I'm thinking of drinking a shake a few times a week to replace lunch. I'd like it to add protein to my diet, and not a lot of fat. This idea also appeals to me because I have 2 small children (1 and 2) and sometimes it is so hectic at lunchtime that I don't get to eat. I'm thinking on those days I could whip up a shake and get some protein. Any suggestions on brands that you like? Also, do you think this will slow down my metabolism or is a few meal replacements ok? I work out 6 days a week, hard.

thanks,
Candice

Hi Candice! I'm a person that's tried just about every brand there is out there on protein shakes and their all DISGUSTING!! I make my own. Here's one version: 6 oz. soy milk, 4 oz. cranberry juice, 1-2 Tbsp. ground flaxseed, frozen blueberries, 1/2 banana, 1/4 cantaloupe and 1-2 egg whites or egg white substitute. You can vary the fruits and juice using strawberries, papaya, pineapple juice, etc. These are very delicious and very nutritious too and easy to make. Happy blending! Kathy
