I asked this on VF and this was actually Chalene's response (for any who are interested):
Here is the note she posted about that over at BB
Just a few things I wanted to say...
As for a rest week. I didn't include one and here's why. Because if you're a human being, living in this fast paced "things happen" kinda world, a rest week happens when life deals it to you. You're going to have a rest week when your kid ends up in the hospital, or it's moving week, or your get the flu, or your faced with a crazy deadline at work that prohibits you from sleeping more than 2 hours a night.
I personally don't believe in a scheduled rest day for the same reason. There are two rest days in the program, but the truth of the matter is the die hards can benefit from doing a little extra cardio on those days. Rest days are a necessary part of allowing your body to recover. I take a rest day when it presents itself. That just works for me. That way, when something interrupts my scheduled workout I don't freak out and feel like I've failed or stress over losing control of my schedule. It is what it is. I make it my rest day and get on with life.
Life is about balance for me. I think that people should be their personal best and pat themselves on the back.
I don't believe that people with a family, friends, and a real life job can really expect to devote their whole day to diet, nutrition and exercise. Do your best. Be your best.
The favor I ask of you is to start with my motivational cd. I think you'll get a better sense of who I am, what I want you to get out of this program and maybe feel a lot better about yourself in the process.
I look forward to meeting many of you at the Summit. I hope you're bringing the people you love along with you on this fitness journey. Get a friend involved. Get a spouse involved. Get a neighbor to do it with you. Partners create accountability. The more layers of accountability you create, the more sure proof your success. This message board is a layer of accountability. Stop back often!
See ya tomorrow!
