Question for those that have new TLT's

What size squishy ball are you guys using? I just ordered three of the DVDs. All but Strength in Movement with Jen Carmen. I was thinking a 4 or 5 pd one. Just not sure. I only want to but one. Thanks.

I think you purchased the BEST 3 work outs! I bought them all and SIM was the only one I didn't care for. I wasn't sure which squishy balls to get either so I went ahead and ordered both a 3 and a 4 lb ball. I figured I can use both of them at some time or another. I ordered mine directly from SPRI at a discounted price.

I think you'll be happy with the DVD's. They're really creative and fun!

ETA I think Tracie uses the 4# squishy ball and she demonstrates the intermediate level.

Michele:)

I have all four sizes coming (UPS says tomorrow!!) because the med balls I have are big and Tracie said you really need something you can grip tightly. After doing the workouts I see she's right. I have a squishy 8# one from Danskin but the heaviest Cindy uses showing advanced modifications is a 5#, so I can't imagine myself at this point using an 8#. Maybe one day ... LOL!!

I ordered a 4 and 5 pounder and just ordered a 6 pounder for days I feel more energized. I think most people on this Forum can easily begin with a 5 pounder.

I have used my 5 pounder the last 3 days doing my TLTs, but today I was feeling the effects a bit and dropped down to my 4 pounder.

Lorajc is correct. I just looked at my post. I did not order a 3# squishy. I ordered 4# and 5#, but I'm thinking the 4# will be adequate to start with. (I ordered 2# as well but that's for something else).

Thanks guys:) I went ahead and ordered the 5 pd one. I already got a shipping notice that the Dvds are ready for pickup today. That was super quick. I should have them this week.

I have done two of these workouts and I have only a 10# medicine ball and trust me...it is way too heavy for the speed of these workouts. I will be ordering lighter ones today.

I forgot to mention that Amazon.com has a small Valeo fitness ball that is squishy and it is only $7-9 but shipping is about $7 also. The other place that has good prices on Spri mini xerballs is Leighcrews.com

Thanks for posting this link. I too ordered my 4# ball from Leigh Crews site. I'd like to purchase a heavier ball. I think I'll wait until after I have my baby to decide if I want a 5 or 6# one.

Michele...thanks so much for posting that site. I have been looking for 12" step hurdles and for some reason searching the net never pulled up that site and they have them! (I use the step hurdles for basketball drills with the kids)

And indeed the xerballs are much cheaper!

Can I use a dumbbell instead?

I just ordered these over the weekend and due to lack of storage space hate to order a ball if a 5 pound dumbbell can be substituted. For those who've done the workouts, what do you think?

TIA,
Sue

You're very welcome! I found that site right here on the Cathe boards. Cathe has a link to it under her buyers guide section. I just wish I had checked there before I bought mine:-(

Carol,

What's the exterior of the squishy balls made of? Is is like a vinyl? Are they hard to hold once you start to sweat?

Mine won't get here until Wednesday:-(

Michele

I got a pair of 5# Danskin squishy weight balls at Wal-Mart for around $14. They also had 3# and 4# sets for less.

They are soft vinyl and seem to have sand inside. The weight is not solid in the core however, so as you turn the ball over in your hand you can feel the weight shift. They are really cool. I like the small size.

I have only tried the Better Burn....Better Buns DVD so far, but I like the different uses for the balls.

Now I just have to buy some paper plates....found I didn't have any. I tried using a couple of old magazines because I thought the glossy covers would help me slide, but they didn't really work.

Only one ball is used.

As for dumbbells in place of the balls: it could work for some moves, but there are some that involve passing the ball quickly from oone hand to the other that I think would be risky (dropping!) with a dumbbell.
