Question for Nurses

Hi Everyone,
I am currently a nursing student and I have a question. Is it possible to work on a master's program in nursing part-time and work full-time? I'm in a undergraduate program right now and I have to go to school full-time and work part-time, but when I graduate I am going to need to work full-time. I want to still be able to work on my masters while I do this. Any information on this would be helpful. Thanks.
 
Hi, I'm not a nurse, but my ex-sister-in-law is and she got her masters by working full-time and school part-time. It just took a little longer but she liked being able to work full-time.

Edited to add: this was a few years back so I don't have any other details.

I was an MBA Yuppie Corporate person when I had an identity crisis at 27 and decided to go into nursing. Joined the part time program at the county college with several gals and guys who not only worked, but had kids too. The instructors said, "if you work a job, you better quit, because you'll never make it".....fast forward 2.5 years....180 students passed through my class in varying semesters, 29 of us graduated....of those 29 were ALL the folks who had jobs....every single one of us...you can do it! And welcome aboard!
 
YES! many MSN programs are designed for fulltime or part time attendence. The exception would be CRNA preparation, at least at the University of Cincinnati, it is only FT and you cannot work while you are enrolled. But nurse practitioner, and administrative programs can go both ways
 
Absolutely!! I was working part-time when I finished my MSN; however, I know many nurses who have worked full-time while completing a master's program. In fact, my best friend has a very demanding position as a RN and is in a nurse practitioner program. My current manager has her MSN and is now working on her MBA.

I know it can be done. I would like to go for bachelors and then masters too. Because I didn't want to wait forever to be accepted to a bachelors program, I entered an ADN program. When I get out I will then have two associates degree. Stupid, but oh well. My education was too cheap to complain, lol

Curious...what do you want to go into as a nurse? What specialty?

I am thinking about going into orthopedics or something having to do with sports medicine. Thanks for the information everybody. All of you have made me feel alot better. I'm looking forward to working full-time when I graduate in another year and working on my MSN part-time. Thanks again for all the comments, I enjoy listening to positive people:)
