Question for instructors

If I want to make a DVD and use music (current music, hit music, etc.). Do you have a good place to go for fairly inexpensive rights to the music?

So far I am searching and only finding places that want to charge thousands of dollars per song (sometimes tens of thousands). It makes me really appreciate Cathe's music and how motivating her music always is!

I am definitely not looking to be in any kind of competition with Cathe. It would be for my current clients and also for my master's degree (I am making a DVD for my thesis).

I am just looking to use some good music and thought that someone might have a suggestion for me, other than the music that I am able to use in my classes. I don't think that I have rights to use it in any production, just when I teach my classes (bootcamp type things mostly).

If you think this question is inappropriate for this forum, please say so (politely) and I will delete/drop it!! Thanks for any input that you may have!

EE39, have you thought of posting this question on the Turnstep bulletin board? www.turnstep.com, "Kitchen Sink" or "Instructors" forum boards? There are several regular peeps over there who have produced DVDs (a long-time contributor named Carole Paradiso comes to mind), and I'll bet someone would have some good advice for you.

Yay!! Thanks for the advice, Annette! I knew there were other ideas that were staring me in the face, but this is where I come every day for any type of problems that I am having.

Thanks so much AJ!!! I'll try it and see what I can find!
