question for educated crowd

I have been doing the wedding video strength training for 2 months. I have increased my weight a few times over the last few weeks. My upper body is VERY tired and shaky afterwards but my lower body no longer feels shaky or exhausted afterwards even while holding weights while doing the lunges. My goals are to increase muscle for weight loss purposes (I tend to stay a little chubby), prevent osteoporosis (it runs in my family), but most of all to "feel" strong. Looking defined is not a goal of mine. Don't get me wrong, I think defined is gorgeous. But feeling better and stronger (at my point in life) is my only priority. Should I purchase the PS series or MIS? Would appreciate any suggestions.

PS legs

I think you could really grow with this video. It is TOUGH! Not that MIS isn't, but this is a long intense leg workout with lots of possibility to improve, up weights, and get stronger.

PS or MIS - It depends

In previous threads Cathe and the educated crowd describe MIS as more of an endurance tape and the PS series as more strength buillding. A lot of people do a PS series rotation for a number of weeks, or an MIS rotation, then switch. Others will combine, for example doing MIS one week and PS the next, or doing each of the PS once in a week and then the MIS once that same week. The possibilities are endless.

I have MIS and the PS series and use both.

My experience was that I saw significant strength gains and definition using the PS series. I personally like the format, which is slow and heavy because I like being able to concentrate on form. Cathe gives lots of form pointers throughout and her crew show variations if you need to modify.

In MIS Cathe tells you that it is more of an endurance tape, but that if you are new to strength training you will also see strength gains. I use this tape just to shake things up a bit and keep my muscles guessing. The crazy 8 exercise for biceps will have you begging for mercy!

Like any true Cathe addict I would say that there's room for both MIS and PS series in your video library, but if it's strength you're after try the PS series.

I'm sure lots of other folks will offer very good advice. Good luck and have fun!.

Cathe has recommended MIS first

I am not sure why, BarbaraRay, but in the past, Cathe has usually recommended that you do MIS for a while before doing the PS tapes.

MIS has fewer sets per body part than the PS series, but there are more reps in each set and very quick transitions. Done in its entirety, this tape is exhausting, but very effective for building a good muscle base and blasting your metabolism to burn off the fat layer. I recommend splitting it into 2 workouts: MIS warm-up, plus MIS leg, then FF to the abs and stretch at the end (probably 30-35 minutes total) and then the next day do MIS warm-up MIS upperbody, skip the abs and do the stretch at the end. It's not as daunting this way, but you'll still get good results. When you feel as if your endurance is up to it, go ahead and try the tape in its entirety, but IMHO, it's not necessary to do the total video to get good results.

After you're comfortable with MIS, I highly recommend the PS series. They are still my favorite strength training tapes of all time.

This is why I love this forum!

Daphne - I love your idea of splitting up MIS. Why can't I ever think of these creative new ways to use Cathe's tapes? Oh well, at least I can get inspired by everyone else. Thanks!
