Question for Cathe or the educated crowd.

Cathlete
I have a question about sweating. It seems that I sweat buckets on easier cardio workouts than harder workouts and was wondering if you know why. For instance when I do KPC or IMAX 2, I get really hot, but only sweat a little. I know this it not good because my body is not releasing the heat like it should. I got so hot one day that I had to stop. I wasn't really too tired, but just really too hot. Today I did Body Fusion, which I love by the way, and I was dripping sweat. I consider myself an intermediate exerciser and wonder if I'm getting any benefits from the harder workouts. I hope so as I don't want to give up on them. Any help is appreciated.

Have you ever monitored how much water you drink? That is supposed to have a lot to do with how much you are sweating (i.e., more water = more sweat). Also, I hear that the fitter you are, the more you sweat, as in your body becomes more efficient at cooling you off. I live in the humid tropics, and have to wear workout pants and knee-high socks or my shoes squish (ick!). For KPC I have to wear long sleeves, but don't seem to sweat as much either (maybe your brain is like mine and absorbs all the extra water while I try to concentrate on not high-kicking myself onto my brisket? Just kidding! No one is as uncoordinated as I am). If I drink a lot of water the day before, I sweat buckets. Get one of those oldie cotton headbands and soak it in cold water, that will help with the heat. Cheers!

Thanks for the recommendations Deborah. I try to drink a lot of water, but sometimes I know I don't drink enough. I'll start monitoring my water intake on the days before a strenuous cardio workout and see if that helps.

Hi Kelley! I also wanted to add that you will generally sweat more with circuit type workouts which is what cardio and weights is.

Thanks Cathe, I did not know that and that does answer my question because now that I think about it the workouts that me sweat the most are circuit workouts. I never realized it until now. Thanks.
