Question for Cathe about weight training...

Cathe, I started out really loving your circuit training and interval tapes and then, once I learned how to do step, I have been really enjoying all the step tapes. Now, my question is, do I have to do just weight training tapes, or is it enough to do things like Boot Camp, and Step, Jump and Pump, and High Step Training Advanced to get my weight training in? I just can't get motivated to do a whole hour of weight training. I like it so much better when I can do weights and cardo together. I have Supersets and Push Pull that I have been using one day a week but I would much rather get my weight training from the aforementioned work outs. IS that ok. I'm 43 and have already gotten in pretty good shape with your tapes in the last 5 months. THanks so much for your website and your tapes -- you are an inspiration.

Hi Singlebeth! I view circuit workouts as maintainence workouts for both cardio and weight gains. If you want to increase your cardio capacity then you have to train cardio specifically. If you want to increase your strength then you have to train strength specifically. Circuit workouts are great and tough, but they don't hit one particular training mode (cardio or strength) long enough to catapult your body to a new dimension in that area. They do however, shock your body with quick and constant changes which in its own right, tests your body's overall stamina and endurance, challenging you while you burn off some serious calories.

Wow! Thank you so much for posting this. This is info I didn't know, and it helps me to understand my rotations even better.

I learn so much from these posts.:)

Thanks! Now I know why I wasn't getting anywhere in regards to my strength! I did alot of circuits and cardio, but never put much time into just strength.............! Now I definately will!
