Question for Canadian Catheites

Hi our friends to the north. I have a question for you. Years ago when I was a child, my family camped at a wonderful location in the Niagra Peninsula called Sherkston Beaches. It was rather primitive, mostly tent camping, water pumps few and far between, one shower house on site, etc. As kids, we had an absolute ball camping in Canada.

Now commercialism has over taken it (see www.sherkstonshores.com) and it's mostly trailer sites that you can rent, swimming pools, and amusement park rides. My dad still loves the idea of "camping in Canada" and wants us all to go tent camping this summer. I'd like to visit a place that was as pristine as my nostalgic old Sherkston Beaches.

Now I realize that what I'm asking is like saying "Oh, you're from California, do you know the Smith family?" But if any of you are in the Niagra region, and do family summer camping, any great sites that you can recommend? I trust the opinions of my fellow Catheites more than travel agents. Thanks in advance!

Thanks a bunch Shelley. I've gotten some good leads from this. Appreciate the input!

No problem Lorrie. I've heard good things about Rock Point and Long Point Provincial Parks.

I don't really do the camping thing, but I have been a couple of times. I'm not sure how far you want to drive, but Cypress Lake, which is part of Bruce Peninsula National Park in Tobermory, Ontario, is absolutely gorgeous. Here's a link:
