Question concerning muscles and clothes................

Calico

Cathlete
I have noticed that while I had broad shoulders before that now that I am weight lifting using Cathe's Power Hour(only I don't have anymore yet) that my shoulders are measuring even bigger. My dh said that it is because I am building up my back and chest, which is all well and good, of course I am big busted too (DD). The problem is I am losing weight but my top size is going up due to this factor. Has anybody else had this problem with their shirt/blouse size going up after starting to lift weights? I had to buy a size 16 to get it to close in front and not pooch whereas I am a 12/14 even some 10's fit on the bottom and can usually fit into a XL on top but NOT today. While I was depressed with this fact I don't look like I should have to wear that size but nevertheless I do.:+

Thanks:D

I've always worn a "medium" top, but for the last year or so, I often find that I need to buy a "large" if the top has sleeves. With sleeveless, I can usually still buy a medium.

I've also noticed that I probably need to go up a bra size (not cup size, unfortunately ;( , but band size), as my lats have gotten more developed.

All I can say is that I will finally wear sleeveless shirts!! I was way too self conscious in them, but now I will put on a tank top. For the first time in my life I have arms that show some muscle. Even at my thinnest I never had arms that were to be proud of. Thin and girlish, yes, but muscular, no. Perhaps this is where I have visibly noticed the most change, is upper body. I think I am going down in size a bit from losing inches and toning.

Now if only that tummy/middle would shrink...........:)

Blessings!

I don't know if this will be of any help to you but I wanted you to know that you are not alone. I have exactly the same problem although I have recently got my band size back down to 32" from 36", my bust size has remained the same at a DD (hurrah!) but my shoulders and arms have grown through using weights. It was difficult enough to find clothes to fit my upper body before I gained but now I think I might have to find a tailor because it's taking so long to shop for clothes and I often come back empty handed. A friend of mine suggested I try some mens
T-shirts and that's working out very well for me (we're talking smart men T-shirts of course :) )
