question abt HRM chest strap

Just wanted to no if the chest strap tht comes along with the heart rate monitor is adjustable?? Coz both me and my fiance need to use it, just wanted to be sure b4 ordering. Thanks.

Well, the adjustability will depend on which brand and model of HRM you get. The Polar HRMs have fully adjustable chest straps.

Yes, the chest strap does come with the monitor, but I personally don't like to share that part. We each have our own. However, to buy another chest strap it is very expensive, especially if the strap is a coded one.

I was trying to get the polar F6, and it does say tht it has a coded strap, whr can I find the price for an extra strap?? I was lookin at the heartratemonitorusa website, but I cant find if they sell the straps by themselves. would u pls give me a link? Thanks.

I have a polar HRM. You can buy the strap separately from the transmitter. I am not sure if this is what you want but I found this link:

Mine is adjustable (I've got a LifeWise that I got on eBay). It's OK, but a little uncomfortable. And the watchband doesn't get small enough for my wrist. Not such a big deal except doing kickboxing. Then it's rotating around my wrist with every punch!

A cheaper alternative would be to buy a separtate elastic band (that's the part I wouldn't want to share). You may end up buying this HR unit and then your fiance may not like wearing it and then you have just wasted money.

I didn't check the site for bands, though, but I do know that these are available, too.

I got my replacement strap at my local running store for $6. I was able to get a small, rather than medium. It fits much better. I wore out the old strap.

You can also order the chest strap that will fit him, and then just put the heart monitor chest piece under the chest strap on your bra. This works great, for me, as it's hard to find an x-small chest strap for myself. So I generally just put it under the chest strap of my bra and it stays there until I take the bra off. No matter what activity I am doing, I've never had it fall out of place. And the readings have been just as accurate under the bra, as they are with a strap.
