Question about Step Fit/Works

Cathlete
I love Cathe's Step Jam (but then what Cathe video do I not like?) If I can handle the choreography in Step Jam , will I be able to handle Step Fit and/or Step Works?
Is one less complex than the other? Does one have more energizing music than the other or is the music in both very high energy? Christmas is coming and my hubbie needs ideas!!! More Cathe videos, right?
Thanks,
Lisa

I hope you get some answers to this too Lisa, as I am trying to make up my gift list to give to DH too!

I have one other criteria I hope someone can comment on: I try to do my workouts early in the morning before the kids get up, but sometimes due to various kid things (especially with cold season upon us, and preschoolers in day care, ugh) I get up a little too late myself, or the kids get up too early and come looking for me. So, I really appreciate videos that come in segments, so that if I get interrupted and can't complete it, I still feel like I got in a decent w/o. Some is better than none, right?

Hi Lisa,
I'd say that if you're doing fine with Step Jam, you'll catch on to Step Fit and Step Works no problem. Both have great, upbeat music. IMHO, Step Fit is the easier of the two to catch on to, so if you can only get one of the two right now, perhaps Step Fit would be the one to start with. (but of course, what you REALLY should do is get 'em both ;-) ). Step Fit includes the Macarena step cooldown, which some people love and some don't love as much (personally I get a kick out of it), and it has a longer than usual stretch at the end. Step Fit has quite a bit of "walk around the step" moves, and also has the Flying Angel move which I am still not too keen on, but doesn't detract from how much I love this workout. And I absolutely love the "pivot on the step" move in StepFit.
Hope this helps a little! I'm sure you'll get lots of other opinions! :) Have you checked out the reviews at VF? They might also help you make up your mind.

I agree that Step Fit is easier to learn than Step Works. Personally, I like the choreography better in Step Fit (although I know there are a lot of Step Works fans out there!), but I think Step Works is a more intense workout. Do you have Powermax? That would be a great one to go to from Step Jam as well.

Step Fit is a better next step

Step Works, especially in the 1st section, uses a lot of "favorites" from other videos, including Step Fit, so there isn't as much break-down of the moves. It's also a somewhat faster tempo than Step Fit, so it goes pretty fast. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Step Works. But if you're working your way up the Cathe foodchain, I think that Step Fit or Power Max would be better. Step Fit is is personal favorite of all of Cathe's videos, with Power Max and Step Works in a tie for 2nd.

Also, Step Fit has just 2 sections, instead of 3, so if you needed to cut it short because your kids wake up, you can do the warm-up and section 1 and cool down on your own, and you've still had a decent cardio workout. Then another day you could warm up with another video or on your own, and do the 2nd section and the cooldown, and again have a great cardio workout. You can still do that with the 3 section videos, but this one, divided in half, makes 2 pretty well balanced workouts. Of course, I love to do combos, and both of these sectins are faves for adding to other video sections for a really fun workout. :)
