Question about pre and post exercise nutrition

Hi Cathe,

I really need some helping deciding what to eat before and after workouts.

I usually start working out about 7-7:15 a.m. on an empty stomach. The problem is when I do a long workout like Body Max2 (which is an amazing sweatfest BTW!), I tend to bonk by the end. Also I don't get in my first meal until around 9 a.m, which is kind of late if I want to eat 5 small meals during the day.

So here are my questions:

Do you eat before morning workouts? Do you drink sports beverages or water during your workouts?

Do you finish with a sports beverage, or some kind of recovery drink?

Do you recommend mostly carbs after a workout? (I currently try for about 4:1 carbs/protein ratio.)

I appreciate any advice you can give. I am really trying to improve my performance, and I know nutrition is a huge part of that.

I would really love to know the answer to this question as well. I am not a morning person so I work out in the evenings around 6pm before dinner. I am having issue with crashing before I can finish my workout as well, but I am trying to loose weight so I don't want to add a lot of calories.

I have the exact same question. Like LeAnn, I work out before dinner but by 4pm at work I am starving.
