question about positioning

Hi Cathe, I consider myself a beginner/inter exerciser. I graduated to the cardio & weights DVD. I've done it twice. When doing standing hammer curls you suggest putting one foot behind. I feel unbalanced and leg with most weight gets tired very easily. Why do you suggest that stance?

Second the froggy abs, is that a compound exercise? Why crunch in that position?

Not Cathe here, but:
If you feel unbalanced, it may be that your stance isn't wide enough. Also, the weight should be about equally distributed between the two legs.
 
Carmen-
Keep in mind Cathe usually says to find a stance that works for you if that one makes you feel unbalanced. Notice she herself changes foot positions throughout many of her routines to find "just the right one" for herself.
