Question About KM Leg Conditioning Drills

Hi Cathe! I've been doing these drills weekly for the past seven weeks (usually as an add-on after 1/2 Low Max) and my technique has really improved. For the past two weeks I decided to do them barefoot which has allowed me to obtain more height (since my feet weigh less!). My question is, is it better to get more height due to this decreased resistance or to keep the sneakers on to allow this bit of extra resistance even if it means sacrificing height?

TIA! Looking forward to hearing about filming!:)

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I've done the drills both ways and what a difference the weight of my sneakers make! I prefer to do them barefoot.

And, not to hijack this thread, but I also wonder what the purpose of the rapid fire kicks are. Sometimes I go half the speed (esp. if I'm wearing shoes) because I'm afraid I'm going to kick my knee out of joint.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Sooooosan! The power and technique of the kick is much more important than the height of the kick. But if you enjoy doing it both ways and your form is not suffering, alternate it occasionally for cross training purposes!

Take Care!

Hi Melissa! Rapid fire kicks recruit a lot of hamstring muscle and are a nice addition to fitness programs because, overall, the hamstrings do not seem to get called upon as often as the quads. However, if not done with caution, it is very easy to pull something. Always be fully warmed up, ONLY do them at a pace that you are comfortable doing, don't push to work beyond your technical abilities, and stretch fully when you are done.

Good Luck!
