Question about juicers?

We just recently bought a Juiceman Jr. juicer. While I love the juice I'm wondering if this isn't such a great juicer. When I juice oranges, the pulp is almost soupy. Isn't it supposed to be dry? Also the little strainer basket seems to get full rather quickly. Not to mention, this thing is so loud! What are some of the best juicers that a reasonably priced?

Thanks

Since no one is responding here, I'll let you know what I think. I have a champion juicer, which is not reasonably priced, but of course works great. I have to admit it is sitting in the basement because it is so big (like almost 50 pounds). They are highly recommended as they masticate the pulp (similar to how we chew our food) thus rendering a highly nutritious product. They cost about 250.00 or so (I got mine used for 100.00 and you might be able to find one if you check out local ads). They also make great frozen juice type icecream (healthy). I also have an Omega juicer (about 120.00) and I purchased the orange juice attachment (another 29 or so). I love this and it sits on my counter as we use it every day. The pulp is very dry and we primarily use it for carrots and other veggies. When I do oranges with the attachment it takes the juice completely out and leaves just the skin of the orange. I usually do an orange just before a workout (ala Marabeth). Some would say the the spinning action of the basket causes some oxygenation to occur thus reducing the nutrient content somewhat, but I get so much more juice. I really don't think that much could be lost. I'm sure you could view one if you did a search for Omega juicers on the internet. I wouldn't part with this!!!! If you are only doing oranges, any rotary juicer from walmart probably would work pretty well as you just press it and it spins, but to do carrots or anything else you'll be wasting your money unless you buy a good one. Just my thoughts....take it or leave it. :) :) :) :)

Thank you so much Briee. I had looked at the Champion juicer but it's a little too pricey for me right now. I juice pinapples, oranges, grapes, peaches, apples, carrots, strawberries etc.... (and I haven't even had it a week yet...lol) I think I will look around for an Omega juicer. Hmmm, ebay?!?! lol.

Thanks again!!

Hi,

I used to have the same juicer as you. If you use it often enough. It will brake. When my broke I bought juice lady juicer which good, but not work as good as I hoped for. I think there is one on TV advertised by Jake Lalane. That looks like a good juicer. The junior one cannot juice toghter vegetables and fruits. Like don't try pineapple to juice there. In the end if you buy cheaper juicer you'll pay twice because you will have to replace it. But that is just my opinion.

Thanks Elena,

I've actually heard some good things about the Jack Lalanne juicer. I found it on ebay. The only thing I'm concerned about is that it has 1/4 horse power motor. I have been told that a "good" juicer should have no less than 1/2 horse power motor. I do like how dry the pulp on the Jack Lalanne juicer looks though. Plus the extra wide spout. I'm really tempted to get it...lol.

I have been actually juicing pinapple and oranges together in the jr. Although, the motor seems to be bogging down with the pineapple. It's sooo good though :)
