Question about foam rollers..

Does anyone use a "low density" foam roller? I have never used a foam roller.....but have been reading
about them, etc..... I did purchase one a while back at a local store, but I didn't like it at all...and ended
up returning it. It was so hard (meaning the "firmness" of it) I read somewhere that if you are new to
foam rolling, it might be easier starting with a softer or a "low density" one... but it seems they are more
expensive than "high density" ones..... just wondering if anyone has used a lower density roller and
your thoughts? Thanks.
 
Thanks, yep, the OPTP soft is one I have been looking at, as well as on Amazon, Healthy
You Soft Roller which is about $10. Cheaper….Hmmmmm. The Melt one is like $79.

Well, decision semi-made…if I get one, it will be OPTP Pro-roller, Super Soft…..everywhere I read, it’s the one recommended for starting out, and i actually called
OPTP to see what shipping would be and although the roller itself is cheaper directly from them,, it actually would be cheaper thru Amazon, because Amazon has free shipping…so…..but the lady I talked to, said that one was more “forgiving” and would definitely be less pain in starting out…might wait to see what the price of the dvds are going to be first….don’t imagine that’s gonna be too ”forgiving” LOL!
 
Foam rollers come in all sorts of densities and extras these days. I started using them at the Pilates Studio I go to; these were the longer ones and varied from low to medium density. The first one I purchased for myself was a long one and harder than the studio ones. I found using a thick towel with it helped until I got used to it. I have since purchased others including a short one with bumps on it for deep tissue, which I can use up against a wall but not lying on it. I have a short battery powered vibrating roller with 3 vibration intensity settings and bumps on it too. The latest one I purchased is the Rollga foam roller. This is a short, medium density roller and is contoured to fit your body shape. Needless to say, I'm so happy Cathe is including some foam roller workouts in this series.
