Question about cameras?

In the mail today I finally received insurance money for the camera that was lost/stolen on our vacation in February. So now I need to go shopping for a new one. I would like to get a digital one but have never had one before and don't have a clue what to buy. Someone told me to get one that is at least 7.0 megapixels? Anyone have a camera that they love or know what features to look for??

Hi Kim,

I have the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 10.1 MP Digital Camera. I bought it in April and I love it. Before I bought this camera, I had no knowledge of digital cameras at all. It's simple to use and takes fantastic pictures! It's a little pricey though. I think Amazon has it for $215, which is a little less than what I paid for it. It has a nice big screen and has movie capabilities, although I have not used that feature yet. I did some research on it before I bought it and it got great reviews. In May I took it to the beach and took some amazing pictures with it.

Also look for the option where you can change/upgrade the memory. Most digital cameras have slots to put SD/MMC cards that can store your pictures. You can buy extra cards.

When my daughter was planning an overseas trip we gave her extra memory cards so she could store over 20000 pictures. She wouldn't have access to a computer or the net to move them.
