I was wondering if it is ok to do yoga TTOTM? I had one video that said not to, and my "Bryan Kest Power Yoga" doesn't even mention it. Also, I've heard it is best to do yoga on an empty stomach, is it really so terrible to do yoga after eating?? Thanks for the advice!! Pam:)

The real traditional yogas say not to exercise when it is TTOTM. It's based on the theory of yoga's mind/body something or other. There is no physical reason not to do yoga; it's the mental connection part. I do yoga whenever- and feel like a heathen or something! }(

I can't imagine why it's best to do ANYTHING on an empty stomach! I miss the benefits of anything if I'm just focusing on my hunger.

You might want to try these out for yourself and see what works for you. HTH!

depends on what poses you are doing. i wouldn't do headstands, shoulderstands, plow or any inversion poses but my TOM i do the regular sun salutations and balancing work. my energy is a little less then other times but i wouldn't shy away from it.

a dvd i have called yoga complete for everybody has a few practices for TTOM amongst its 45 different practices.

Hi Pam! The only contraindication I know is to avoid inversion asanas (shoulderstand, headstand, plow) when your flow is particularly heavy. When it's TTOTM I find it more important to stand up very slowly after having my head below my knees (forward folds...) so that my blood can equalize and I don't get dizzy.
Like most workouts I think it's best to wait at least an hour after eating to do yoga so your muscles aren't competing with your digestive organs for blood flow. If the yoga I'm doing includes much pranayama (breathing practises) I prefer an empty stomach (4 hours after eating).

p.s. Bryan Kest is sooooo hot!!!!:) :+

Thank you all for your answers...I am pretty new to yoga, have done it some through the years but not enough to know much about it, except how amazing I feel when I do it. I am going to make it a regular in my workout lineup, I've decided. Yes, Bryan Kest is, ahem..."good looking" (to say the least), but his classes are really, really good. :) :) Thanks everyone!! Pam
