Ques about doing planks

Hi Everyone,
Is it ok to do plank ab work on non-upper body days? I want to begin doing Gym style series (breaking the workout up am/pm because of time constraints) so I don't want to add to my time in the evenings. I want to do Core max on alternatnig days ( ex. Mon & Wed, upper body; Tues & Thurs, abs). I have heard that you should rest your muscles completely in between workouts. That being said, will doing some of the planks and stability ball work impede on my muscle recovery? Thanks in advance.
 
There's no set rule on this. I find that abs, like calves and forearms, are difficult to overwork. And working these parts of the body would not likely comprise your recovery for the larger muscles (legs, etc).

Personally, I like to do 20 minutes or so a day of good core/ab work.

Planks and stability ball work should be no problem at all for you. Just try it and see how it goes.
