pyramide training why?

hi cathe, please tell me why pyramide training is good for me? why 12 reps , 10 rep and 8 reps? what does that for my muscles? thanks
 
I have a question to add. If I have limited time, is the UP pyramid or DOWN pyramid better to build strength? It seems that the DOWN would build more strength because I can start heavier than I can end up when I'm tired.
