Pyramid Video Questions

I have been thinking about getting the Pyramid video, but am worried that all of the weight changing in the videos will annoy me. However, I have read wonderful reviews regarding these tapes. My goal is to get definition, not to put on size. Can anyone offer any advice and offer insights into how I might be able to use this video?

Thanks.

PUB uses dumbbells so changing weights isn't a hassle. Cathe & crew do move right along so you need everything out. You also need a wide range of weights. I think Cathe uses 3 - 20 lbs.

PLB uses a barbell. Cathe tried to make the weight changes in real time, but those ladies fly. You may need to hit pause. Two barbells are really helpful.

You also may want to pause for stretching during the workout. Cathe doesn't do much stretching during the workout & when she does, it's very brief. Well, except for biceps. Just wanted you to know that the workout takes me a bit longer than indicated on the cover.

Kimmy,
I also wanted to suggest that if you have a wide range of weights, you can use dumbells in PLB. Cathe also makes this suggesstion in the video. I set my barbell at my heaviest weight, and use dumbbells(?spelling) for the lighter weights.

These workouts are my favorites. But, if it annoys you to change weights after each exercise, you may want to reconsider, because it is a pyramid workout.

Kimmy, I just want to second that dumbbell suggestion. I bought a barbell (and am still thankful I did), but tend to use the dumbbells more for PLB just because they're handier.

I'll third that dumbbell suggestion, Kimmy. I use dumbbells for everything except the squats. For squats, I like having the weight on my shoulders, and a barbell works better for that. If you use dumbbells, I assure you, you won't get annoyed at all. :)

I use two barbells, and I have a set of 2 1/2 lb velcro ankleweights that I just slip on and off the ends of the barbell for quick changes.

I know this has been mentioned many times, but if you have the money, the Troy Lite BB set that is used by Cathe and crew in the workout is really worth it. I just got mine 2 weeks ago and enjoy this workout even more than before. With sets of clips, it is really easy to go heavier and lower on the weights.

Isn't the Troy Lite BB great? I can't have 2 barbells though. For me, it's not a money issue, it's a space issue. Wish I had a workout room!

I got a $50 110 lb. barbell set from Dick's Sporting Goods and it works just fine. It has clips and adding weight is easy and it was cheap and I didn't have to pay for shipping. I don't mind changing the weight. I sometimes have to hit pause or the back button on the DVD but to me it's no big deal. I LOVE THIS WORKOUT!! :)

No big deal, Venus??? It just goes to show you how different we all are. The plate changing took all the fun out of it for me. If Cathe hadn't suggested during the workout that we might want to use dumbbells instead of a barbell, I would have just put the DVD away and never touched it again! All that futzing around with clips and plates was just a deal breaker for me. I love it with the dumbbells though! :D

Venus I am with you, I got mine 120 lb barbell set from walmart for 25.00 and it has clips, and is easy to change......... Rhonda:7

I love this workout, but I'm a little risky. My barbell has the threaded ends, so if I want to go up in weight I just slide the plates on the outside of the threaded-on ends. Not the safest option, but I don't want to unthread and rethread a bajillion times during the workout. I also use dumbells so that I'm not dangerous all the time!
