Push Up Question

Hi Cathe!

When I do push ups, I experience discomfort in the tops of my hands. Is this normal and is there anything I can do about it, or is it something that will get better in time as I do more and more (and more...) push ups? Thanks!

You may stretch out of it or not. If you have a set of larger dumbells you can use them as pushup bars. It's a different hand position.
 
Hi Angela! If this is a new exercise for you, it very well could get better with time. Just space out the days between doing them so that you build up endurance for them rather than develope a nagging pain that distracts from your effort.

You can also see if using push up handles alleviates the discomfort.

Also try stretching your fingers, wrists, and forearms before and after the exercise too.
