Push-up challenge 5/26

I'll start the first one - I'm doing them only in my Circuit Training classes, and not any big numbers this week since I'm easing off this week with exercise. We did different varieties, however - split, travel, incline, decline, etc.

How are the rest of you doing?

I did my first "baseline" attempt: 33 1/2 (going the same ROM and pace). Though I'd like to be that age;-) , I still have to work up to 15 1/2 more. I'll do the same as with the pull-up challenge, and do attempts every other day, for the most part (my current rotation would require me to either do two days in a row, which I don't want, or to have a two-day break once a week, which is fine).

Ok, I am planning to do this, but I don't know when I'll start. Anyone sense procrastination???

How about today?!

I would like to do this, too. HB, could you please post the rules/guidelines of the challenge? What is the objective and what is the deadline? Also, any pointers you have about how to progress from knees to straight leg push ups would be great. I don't want much, do I?:7 Thanks a lot. I think this will be fun!

How about those of us over 20 only try to do one-half of their age or in my case, one-forty-sixth of their age. Seems the older gals should get a break.
It's true, I can't do push-ups. I am willing to give it a try but I tell ya, even one is gonna be tough.

There are no "rules," other than to try to do your age in push-ups by your next birthday. I suggested if your birthday is real close, like next month, you could shoot for New Year's day. AND you get no breaks for your age! Nice try, Tallchick!

(Michele!! Oh my gosh!! Kate's here!)

Hi there, I'm August. Michele, Kate and I, as well as a bunch more of us from Cardiohatesville are hoping to join in on your challenge...so look out to be bombarded by pushup whimps as soon as Monday! :7

I've always done pushups on my knees...just like how I do my plank work x( . And I've just read on Open Discussion about how many people are already doing 30, 40, 50, even 100 pushups on their friggen toes! Who are these freaks?! ;-)

I want to become one of those freaks. :)

So see you here soon!

August

That would be a "yes"! BUT - like I tell the people in my Pilates on the Ball classes who think I'm a drill sarge, I don't ask them to do anything that I ain't doing right along with them. We sweat and groan together.

Honeybunch, you are a trainer, yes? HELP!!!!!!!
Isn't it true that it is harder for tall (six feet tall) to do straight leg push ups?

Come on, people, give it a try, post your baseline, and go from there. (I'm actually quite pleased with my baseline, but with chins, I started at "0," so that's a starting place as well!).

Well, I checked my baseline for straight leg push ups--lol! I can do exactly zero. I can get to about a 45 degree angle in the arms but I can't push up from a point lower than that. I can do a lot on my knees, several sets of 12 anyway (never tried to do more than 12 in a set). Oh boy, my work is cut out for me:eek: ;(

I did my baseline check for straight leg and I was surprised to find that I could do 10. I think it was because I was doing them at my own pace, rather than at Cathe's ;-) .

Today I'll start up with the negative pushups and see where I get in a week. :-( :D
