Puppy care question here /Bestoutwest or anyones help

So I'm puppy sitting a 8week old Maltese. Hes happy ,playful ,when not napping ... Hes eating and drinking . But hes like very constipated . He's done his duty but it seems very difficult for him .And he looks like he could prolapse (I think thats the word here). anything I can give him .Without going to a vet ... The book says nothing about this ... I'm kinda worried about the poor little guy . x( Help

If he's still going, that's a good sign. If it's nice and soft and normal looking, it's probably just the way he goes. Keep an eye on him - if it changes, then reconsider.

If it's hard little chunks, then do go see a vet - he shouldn't be constipated at 8 weeks - it might be a change in diet, but he's too young to undergo that kind of stress.

You could try giving him a little canned pumpkin or squash baby food to help soften his stool some. For a little Maltese puppy, probably not more than 1/2 to 1 teaspoon/day. If he's feeling fine otherwise, you could see if this helps before seeking veterinary care.

Thank you I will try the baby food . I was thinking olive oil or something ,but didnt want the poor guy to go the other way . x(
