Pulled fascia in my abdomen . . .

Doc says to not do any exercises for the area between my rib cage my legs for six weeks. Is this possible? Doesn't everything you do involve the core? It has been four days since I last worked out, and I really want to. I am planning an all cardio workout today, but I have noticed that when I do step, it does irritate my lower abdomen some. So I am going to stick to treadmill and elliptical, but this gets really boring for me after awhile and I know I will miss my circuit and Cathe workouts.

Has anybody been through this? Any ideas for modifying exercise so that 1) I don't get out of the habit, 2) I don't go crazy from lack of exercise?
