Protein tablets work?

If the label says '4 tablets - 3 times a day' will provide 7 grams of protein...should I expect my body to absorb all of that, or just a portion of the 7 grams? They are chewable tablets if that makes any difference.
I'm looking to replace (too much) peanut butter and cheese with lower calorie protein.

Thanks everyone.

You know, they might work, but.......

A cup of regular brand lite yogurt has only 140 calories and 8-9 grams of protien. Crunching pills doesn't seem so appetizing and the yogurt is lower in fat than either cheese or peanut butter. Check it out and see what you think.

Oooooh, one other option is an egg! 70 calories and 7 grams of protien.

Whats wrong with peanut butter or cheese? Though not the best food choices for protien, you could do worse. Soy, for example. How about chicken slices or turkey slices? A protein shake...i would not want to replace my food choices with a tablet regardless of the source.

I've never heard of protein pills. What are they exactly? And yes, I would be concerned about how much would actually be absorbed by the body. Could be a waste of cash.

I think there is much debate over how much protein the body can use in any one sitting, but i think (i've heard) 20-30g is about right, every 3 hours or so.
