Preacher curls in SS

Yesterday I did SS for the first time and Cathe does preacher curls using the stability ball. Did anybody else find this really awkward? Cathe uses a 25 lb bb and I can usually match her weight or use one weight increment lower, but I had to drop down to 8 lb dbs. Should I keep at it or do you guys follow Cedie's modification?

I usually use either a 45 lb bb for bicep work or 20 lb dumbells. I also find the preacher curls on SS hard. I think that with any Cathe workout it is just a matter of getting used to the new exercises.
 
I also find them really awkward! It feels weird on my elbows. I don't do SS very often, but I think I have tried lighter weights sometimes and others I've just done standing curls. Sometimes I am in the mood for giving something different a chance, and others I want to do what I already like!

I like doing the preacher curls in SS but my elbow don't like this exercise too much. If I'm not situated just right it hurts my funny bone. I usually use 20# for this exercise, its a tough one!
 
I thought I was the only one who couldn't do this right. My elbow kills me after preacher curls. I guess it's tennis elbow acting up but it is too much strain even with light DB. I have to do the modification.
 
I am not fond of this one either using heavy weights. With a bench you can rest more of your arm on it so there isn't so much pressure on the elbow, but not with the ball. I use lighter weights or modify. I don't do this one that often, so I have never really thought much about it before.

I don't like them, or how they make my elbows feel, so I find an alternative. Doing a similar move with dumbbells, squatting down and holding my arms on the inside of my legs (as Tony Horton does for concentration curls in P90 Masters) works much better for me.
 
Thanks for the replies ladies. I thought that I was missing something, but it seems like this just might be an awkward exercise for some! I am going to try it one more time and see if I can get it. If not I am going to move onto Kathryn's modification (thanks for that).

Preacher curls on the stability are painful to my elbows. I can do them with no problem on the preacher curl attachment to my weight bench (flat pad surface). I think the problem has to do with angle at which your elbows are placed due to the "roundness" of the stability ball. I don't know, just a thought.
 
I'm 5'7" and typically use a medium sized (65 cm??) stability ball, but for SS's preacher curls - I find a small (55 cm??) stability ball works much, much better!!
 
I think if the tempo for this segment was slower would help. I always felt as though I was losing control of my form while doing these preacher curls on the ball. So, I instead go heavy and follow Cedie's modification.
