I've resisted doing it for years. Well, doing weight loss "my way" has only gotten me more out of shape.
So now, I've made a committment to food journal for 52 weeks. I've made it one week so far and I'm down two pounds. Of course i exercised and ate well.
I've kept my calories around 1500 to 1200 calories and....what a shock! It works!
It helps that my husband is in a race till the end of December at work. His buddies and he are all competing to lose the most by then. There is $600 at stake and we want him to win!!
He's food journaling and working out. I'm doing the same. It is a nice synergy.
The best part of the journal is that it is helping me have some real sanity. I slipped up yesterday and in a state of panic, I ate a few potato chips. Well, the depression swooped in because I'm still not strong enough to be o.k. with my food choices and I thought that all was lost. Well, i went to record the calories into my journal and I discovered that I hadn't done as much damage as I had imagined.
In the past I would have gone into a steep shame spiral and given in to a huge binge!
The food journal saved me. Reality was a wonderful tool for me to stay on track. I highly recommend it for anyone who has struggled like I have.
Cheers!
