Power walk music

Hi again:

Another question for all of you ladies out there who sometimes take a very fast walk as a low impact alternative to Interval Max!

I am looking for more fast-paced, fab, really motivating music to take along on my walks with me. What do you recommend?

I love Madonna's Immaculate Collection but find the pace a little too slow. Recently I went back to my adolescent disco roots in the Eighties and have been listening to Michael Jackson's "HisStory" , and I found that Thriller, The Way you make me feel, Billie Jean and especially "Beat it" were all great. Prince, compilations, are of course, also great! "Baby I'm a Star!" Know the one?

What do you ladies all use?

Thanks in advance for all recommendations.

Clare

PRINCE!!!

My favorite artist is Prince. I have several compilations but some of my favorites are:
Can't Stop, Love Machine, The Question of U from Graffiti Bridge
Baby I'm A Star, Let's Go Crazy, Darling Nikki from Purple Rain
DMSR, Delirious, Something In The Water and AUTOmatic all from 1999
Raspberry Beret, Kiss, Peach, Escape, She's Always In My Hair, U Got The Look (and many more) from The Hits/The B-Sides
Basically the entire Sign "O" The Times album is good to jog to. I also think that women with big voices are good: Mariah Carey (for some reason I can tolerate her when I am walking outdoors! I admit I liked the Glitter soundtrack), Mary J. Blige, Crystal Waters, etc. Also, remixes of songs are good. Dance remixes can even give ballads an uptempo beat. Have fun! And this is like the opposite of Prince, but I really like Christian music and DC Talk and Jaci Valasquez are great to jog to, okay I'm done!

RE: Power Music online!

Ah, a subject near and dear to my heart!

Power Music, a company that specializes in music for group fitness classes, is absolutely awesome, and I think if you went online at their website (www.powermusic.com), you'd find a vast array of music CD's and cassettes that would suit your genre tastes AND your preferred walking speed; plus, because they're all specially produced for consistent 32-count phrasing, you'd be able to maintain a good consistent stride. Because I'm a group fitness instructor on the side, I buy music from them all the time, not only for my classes but also for my own workout use.

In fact, being a fellow lover of power walking to music, I create walking tapes from Power Music that run for an hour each, with a starting speed of 136 bpm and an ultimate speed of 146 bpm, just increasing the bpm one beat per song.

Give Power Music a look-see!

I have lots of their tapes, and use them exclusively. They rock!

Have you seen the movie "Coyote Ugly"? That sound track has good music.

Can't fight the moonlight
Please Remeber
The Right kind of Wrong
These songs are by LeAnn Rimes

All She Wants to do is Dance by Don Heneley
Unbelievable by EMF
Need you Tonight by INXS
The Devil Went Down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band
Boom Boom Boom by Rare Blend

The only song I didn't like on this CD is We Can Get There by Mary Gfiffin. Just didn't float my boat.

I love to power walk with music to. I could do this for hours.

Dear ladies:

thanks so much for all your suggestions: I'm gonna check 'em all out! And then someone hold me back but the sun is shining on wintry old Michigan today and I may just have to step outside for a lttle while......

On a sunny day in Winter and with great music, I feel I could just walk away from all the stress and never come back! I had to force myself to return after an hour and three quarters the other day so I could attend to all my motherly duties, I was blissed-out having hit my stride and the heart was just pumping along so nicely...

I am so thankful that I have two strong legs, am disease-free and can hurtle my body through space on a daily basis: being able to move the body is such joy. I think I must be like my litle kindergartner, someone with a kinesthetic approach to life!

Have a great day ladies and talk to you soon

Clare
