Power Max Question

Cathlete
Hi - Today was the first time I did Power Max, and thanks to Cathe's excellent teaching, I got down all the choreography EXCEPT the 360 in the third section. Can someone provide a good description of how to do the move? I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions/advice. Thanks, Suzanna

Hi, Suzanna!

I haven't done Powermax in a while, and can't remember the 360 in the third section. I'm gonna do that tape tonight, so maybe I will be able to answer your question then. I love Powermax!!!

Ok, Suzanna, you're gonna think I am nuts! I did PowerMax tonight, and couldn't wait to get to the 360s that I couldn't remember. Well, the reason that I couldn't remember the 360s in PowerMax is that I stop when that part comes up!!! That's when I pop in the cool down and stretch section of Gin Miller's Intense Moves tape.

I hadn't done the tape in awhile, and forgot that I don't do the whole thing. Some big help I turned out to be, huh? Sorry!!!

Next time I do PM I will try to make it thru the 306s.

Ha ha, Veronica, that's great! I don't blame you for stopping before that part comes up. I think it's going to take some watching and practicing to see how the 360 is done. I'm happy that I was able to nail down all of it BUT that one move. Have a good one, Suzanna

Hi Suzanna, that 360 was real tricky for me at first. It helped me to realize that I'm basically "pivoting" all the way around in a circle, on one foot, and then coming off the other side of the step. I think of it as "PUSH" (rotate half way around, and ending up with the pivot-leg still on the step), "PUSH" again (rotate the rest of the way around, back to where you started, keeping that same pivot leg on the step), then "PUSH-OVER-DOWN-DOWN" onto the other side of the step from where you started.
This may not make sense to you, but it is the way I think of the move. Hope it helps! If not, maybe post this question under "Ask Cathe" to get her expert advice!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to do Power Max tomorrow morning and I'll try it! I really love that tape. I hope Step Works and Step Fit are as much fun (they are next in my line up to learn). Have a good one! Suzanna

Watch weight transfer

Debbie makes an important point about the PIVOT: Keep not just the foot on top of your step, but your weight emphasis is also staying on the top (you are holding your weight up with the step foot, just tapping down lightly on the floor)
If you transfer your weight to the floor foot after you do your up and over, you will bonk the move. Most people want to transfer the weight down at first.
