Power Hour......OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

I did Power Hour for the first time yesterday. OMG!!!!! It was soooooooo tough. I have never swore at a video like I did this one. I was on the verge of hating Cathe. If she made me do one more of those darn lunges where you only come up half way....I cannot think of what she calls them.....I was going to totally wig out on my television. That video is very intense. I couldn't do some of the sets to completion. I am feeling the effects of the workout now....about 24 hours later. I am guessing that I will not be able to get out of bed tomorrow....hubby will have to role me to the kitchen. I am very excited about this tape though. I expect great results from it. I also have MIS and plan on using these two together (not on the same day of course) to get a great weight workout. Did anyone else think this tape was intense the first time they used it or am I just a total wimp? I thought I was in good shape, but I'm not so sure right now. Cathe and her "crew" looked so awesome on this tape. They are such inspirations.

Hi Kim,

the first time I used it was on christmas day 2002 and I could not walk for four days, I was crippled, but I read somewhere where Cathe said that after the first day it does get easier(not the workout) but you dont get as much soreness.
Sure enough the second time I did it those lunges(low ends) were still tough but I was'nt as sore.

Enjoyx(

Hi Kim,
I LOVE powerhour. And I absolutly love the music. It always use to make me sore but the last few times I did it I haven't gotten sore. So, I took a little break from it.Right now I have been doing the pyramid system and I think when I do PLB this week, I may do the squats in powerhour to really finish off the burn.I may only be using 20 pounds tough:7
And no ,you are not a wimp....and if you are, then don't worry, b/c we all are.

I started a new rotation last week using the Slow and Heavy workouts and Power Hour once each. I hadn't done PH for quite some time. Wow! It was harder than I remembered. It's a great, thorough, total body workout.

Don't feel bad, at least you made it through.eh?
The trick is to keep it up. You've succeeded so far...and unless you quit, your success is inevitable. Let your muscles rest and it does get easier. Don't wait a week to do it again or you will probably not get to it again. A 48 hour rest period is fine, but then get back on it even if you still feel a little sore. If you feel crippled, perhaps you pulled a muscle and you may need to apply a cold pack or some ice to ease the inflamation. It's alright to take acephetamine too if you feel real sore.
A warm (not hot) bath will help if you take one immediately after the workout. The warm water helps muscles to heal faster by relaxing the muscle. Just don't give up. If it's really hard on you, maybe just take it easy and only do one or two sets until you build up your strength for it. Good luck, I hope I gave you some valuable information. This comes from experience, trial and error. I know what I'm talking about so you can count on it. Over time, the more you do it, the stronger you become and the easier it will get. Take it slow as you can, but push yourself when you feel up to it. Let your body be your guide. ;)

I thought PH was a killer the first time through. I really had to go light on the weights, and I didn't even try the lunge section, because my legs were already fried.

Good thing about it..it gives you room to grow ! I made progress very quickly with the workout, and it always gives me a feeling of accomplishments when I can do just a bit better than the last time.

I'm really happy to hear that I'm not the only one who swears her videos. IMAX is usually the one that turns me into a real potty mouth.}(

The lunges section in PH is one of the very worst Cathe leg workouts there is!! The very hardest for me!

I know exactly what you mean! I did Power Hour for the first time 2 days ago, and I've NEVER felt all of my butt and leg muscles like that before in my life! But in a sadistic sort of way, it felt good to know I was really giving them a good workout, ya know? I did a Pilates session focusing on my lower body early the following day, and that seemed to really help with the soreness. I'm going back in tomorrow to tackle that sucker again - wish me luck! :)
