POSTPARTUM WEIGHT LOSS

wonderwoman

Cathlete
Hello everyone,

I was wondering of anyone had some insight to this question,

I had a baby 2 months ago this sunday. I had a vaginal delivery and everything was perfect.
I started working out 3 weeks PP. I started of slowly and now I back into the swing of things working out with cathe and some insantiy dvd's but I have not lost a single pound! When I got home I quickly lost 22 pounds the first 2-3 weeks AND NOW THE scale is stuck at 143lbs. My prepreg weight is 125 I have 17 more pounds to go. I dont understand whats going on.I'm eating clean around 1500 cal a day I'm not breastfeeding.
I thought maybe my hormones were still out of wack but its been 8 weeks already. I'm very discouraged and just feel like stopping and just eating clean to see what happens. Am I working out for nothing whats the point?
Anyway thanks for any insight you guys might have....

Hi.

I am sorry to hear of your frustration but I can relate. I got very frustrated trying to take off pregnancy weight with my son as well. I was advised to begin calorie staggering which was a lot of work but it definitely helped! I ended up dropping the weight PLUS a few pounds! :D I will say tho, in all honesty, what took me 9 months to gain ALSO took me 9 months to lose. Slow and steady is the way to go though and it definitely paid off because I looked better after having my son then before I got pregnant!!!

I know it's frustrating. I had my third little boy two years ago (well, Oct. 2 will be 2 years), and I'm still battling the post-partum pounds (have about 15 pounds to lose --but I gained 50ish pounds with the pregnancy). With most of my pregnancies, it has taken about two years for me to get the pounds off (I gained about 50-60 pounds per pregnancy ). I've had a harder time this time around, but I attribute it to being a little older and going off of birth control (tubes tied). So my hormones have been wonky. But typically 2 years is my norm.

I don't say this to discourage you, but to encourage you to not give up on yourself. One day the pounds will just start melting off when you least expect it. It is odd how all of a sudden it happens. You lose a lot immediately (baby +water weight), then it stalls and stalls, then wham! It starts to fall off. It varies for everyone. You probably will lose it faster than I did. But give yourself at least 9 months -- the same amount of time it took to put it on.

Good luck, and congratulations on your new blessing! :)

8 weeks is not very long. You are still fighting hormones. Don't beat yourself up. A lack of sleep drastically influences your cortisol levels and insulin levels, both of which effect your body fat retention. Just keep exercising, that helps with hormones and eat plenty of healthy fats, those stoke your metabolism. It takes time to bounce back from a pregnancy, I haven't had one myself but I watched my sister with her four pregnancies and each birth took time to recover from. Also, workouts had less effect than diet.

Thanks ladies for your support.
When I had my 5 yr old daughter I gained 80lbs. By the time she was 7 months I was down to 130lbs. I was 127lbs when I got preg went up to 210 lbs so I promised this time around I wasnt going to lose control I gained 38 lbs so because it was less weight I thought it was going to come off faster.

My new baby is fussier and a cryer and I am sleep deprived plus my 5 yr old is a handful so I have been stressed out with new baby, energized 5 yr old and crazy sleep schedule so maybe that is it.

Anyway thanks for listening....
