post surgery workouts

Cathlete
So, it´s just about 6 weeks since my hernia surgery and I´ll be able to start lifting again :D. My question is how do I begin? I pretty much kept up with Cathe and the weight she lifts in her DVDs (except chest...30 # is just too much for me :))

Any advice about how light I should start? TIA

I had major abdominal surgery a while ago. I think my doctor said to start light. I started back around 10#. I also remember taking it easy with cardio after my 6 weeks was up. Some of the step moves seemed to aggravate the incision area. I would check with your doctor and see what he/she says. Good luck and be careful, it doesn't take long to get back where you were. I don't where your hernia was, but I had an abdominal hernia and I did not lift for about 3 weeks afterwards and I cut my weight (on the exercises that really used my core) about by half...Then, the recovery went pretty fast.

I did a lot of walking, too.

Hope you recover quickly...

And, I like your avatar...GO Tribe...and Brownies!!

I had 2 surgeries back to back. I did lots of floor work, ie Firm Sculpted Buns, etcw/Tracie. Fitprime/Kickbutt Lower Body. And Cathe's 4 Day Split, I did the upper arms while sitting on the stool. I couldn't do hard cardio, but I did walking, etc. Do you have a rebounder or mini trampoline.

Hope you feel better soon!
