post partum depression update

Hi!
I wanted to update my cyber buddies here. You all were so supportive when I first posted about this.

Well, I found a wonderful therapist who is a CSW (clinical social worker) and I am feeling so much better now. She told me that what I had was not post-partum depression but a normal reaction to some other life issues I am having now. I come from a VERY dysfunctional family/abusive childhood and am estranged from my parents and brother for years and having my baby was bringing up a lot of that stuff again. Anyway, I am seeing her on a weekly basis and she is helping me work through a lot of stuff and I have a long way to go but I amr ealizing that with time I will be just fine. She also helped me realize there is nothing wrong with me and how I was feeling was/is totally normal based on my situation. She told me that many many women have the same kind of reaction I did and that having children brings up a lot of past stuff.

The good news is that within the past 2 weeks, I have totally fallen in love with my new baby. I was having some trouble bonding with him at first but all of a sudden I just feel this wave of closeness to him and that is a VERY good thing :)

Thanks for all your support everyone.

Marci
