post partum check in week of April 11

Cathlete
Hi everyone,
I weighed Alexis today with clothes, she weighed in at 13.5 pounds. She can now almost hold a bottle by herself, and yes, actually likes the bottle. For those that don't know , for months Alexis screamed bloody murder when given the bottle. She started getting up briefly at night on and off but has sucessfully been napping in her crib each morning when I exercise each day. I have not started a set afternoon nap yet but according to the book on sleep I am reading, I should start one for her. How is everyone else doing?

Sun-off-too busy eating easter food
Mon-Mindy-interval express plus floorwork from strength express
Tue-Fitprime-from the ground up +firm bodysculpt upper body section
Wed-Franny Benedetto-All out hi/lo and step-hi/lo workout+ cardio from bootcamp
Thurs-Muscle endurance
Friday-Mindy-action packed-hi/lo(Melanie, last week did you do the entire tape?)
Sat-supersets +timesaver day 4 cardio(kickbox plus a walk to the park (about 3 miles), nice weather finally hit new england

Hi there fitness buddies! It's been a long week here at the homefront. Not only did I have my first week back to work, but Saturday was Justin's Baby Shower at church & Sunday (today) was Jory's Birthday party at a local water slide park (indoor park of course).
This week went very well. This coming week is my 'heavier' week b/c it includes a 10.5hr Saturday (should be a piece of cake now that I'm not PG). Please continue us in your prayers!!!

Sun: Extreme Intervals + KPC Abs + CTX triceps
Mon: off
Tue: off
Wed: 30min run
Thurs: TS#1
FRI: TS#2
Sat: Body Blast (minus challenge)

Shopaholic, I usually don't due Mindy's hi/lo. I don't really like hi/lo that much. I love step though...so I do this portion and then try to add another portion of another video to fill in the 60-min goal. ;-)

My blocked milk duct cured itself within 48hrs. I have heat packs incase it happens again!!!

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Hi everyone!

My oldest son just weighed Bardric (102.5-78=24.5, right?) 24.5 lbs cannot be right, I think that I will have to try myself, except that I have sworn off the scales because I am so disgusted with my plateau--It's happened again! I am going to make a dr's appt just to make sure that nothing is wrong with my thyroid. I just can't get the thought out of my mind. I know a number of women with thyroid problems and what if I am one of them.

Bardric crawls well now and pulls to standing against anything he can. I am nuts. Hubby is supposed to do some things around the house to make things easier, but he has had tons of out of town work and so when he is home, we just have not had time to take on these projects. I am grateful that he has work, though, so I am not complaining. Mr. B also has another tooth and blows rasberries. He is very busy and takes little time to nurse. I am wondering if he will wean himself. I have not had this happen yet.

Melanie--glad to hear that you survived the first week back to work. I will continue to pray for you.

Shopaholic--It seems that there is about a 10 lb difference between our kiddos. I would looove to see them side by side. I'll have to find a 13/14 lb baby at church or something for a means of comparison.

My workout week (my version of the tank top rotation)
Wed-home made upper body heavy weight work out--don't have time to do PS CST and PS BBA both in one day:-(
Thurs-Leaner Legs
Fri-CTX kick box (cardio only); CTX sh, bi, tri
Sat-tae bo advanced
Sun-MIS
tomorrow-IMAX I
Tues REST

I have been extraordinarily sore this week. I am enjoying this rotation, so far, but lifting shoulders, biceps, and triceps 3x per week may be too much in the long run. I am going to try it for as long as I can or 4 weeks, whatever comes first.

take care, everyone
Maggie

Briee--I keep trying to send that e mail--I won't give up:7

Hi everyone!

Glad to see everyone's doing good, and Melanie survived (with grace!) the first week of work. Great!

Everything here's good, baby seems to become more and more contempt, so life does seem to get a little easier ;). But it does seem like there's hardly time for anything; days fly by superfast.

Anyway, I'll have to cut it short this time around, here's my workout week:

mon: K.Anderson Hot Steps
tue: PS Legs + Power Max + SJP ABs
wed: KPC
thu: Imax + PS CST + BBA
fri: off
sat: MIC + KPC Abs
sun: C.Prickett; Crazy for Step + Push & Pull

Enjoy your week,

Maria

Maria, I am still amazed at your workouts. Maggie, it sounds like a good idea to check with the doctor re;thyroid problem, it may also be due to decreased breast feeding or just your body holding onto those stubborn pounds. Alexis and I met a 7 month old who weighed 23 pounds, due to all her hair, Alexis looked the same age but what a difference. By the way, Alexis' hair is almost long enough to put in a tiny ponytail. Melanie, i just realized I did do step portion of action packed, not hi/lo . Usually I do the hi/lo portion which is one of my favorites when crunched for time, you may want to retry hi/lo. Its funny that we both ended up on a mindy phase. I am sitting hear dreading going to the dentist, I am going in less than 1 hour to have wisdom teeth pulled. Yuck.

Maria--your workouts blow me away.

Shopaholic--ponytail--cute! We used to do 2 tiny ponytails on Isabella's head way up above her ears. My husband loved them--called them "bug ears", even though we all know that bugs don't have ears;) And bummer about the wisdom teeth--I have had all of mine removed and it was not fun, but also, not as bad as I expected. Keep us posted.

take care
Maggie

PRAYERS!!

Shopaholic, aren't you a little old to be getting your wisdom teeth pulled. ;-) I'm such a brat, aren't I? ;-) Since you've recommended it, I will try to do Mindy's hi/lo. I don't know if I've EVER done it, b/c I haven't really cared for hi/lo in past. Which of hers do you recommend? Action packed hi/lo?

Okay ladies: DH has volunteered to watch baby Justin on Tuesdays while I work. With drive time I am away for EIGHT hours. Tomorrow is 1st day. Please cover their time with your prayers!!!!! I pray that this will be a positive experience for the both of them. Justin still has some colicky days, & I pray that tomorrow isn't one of them. Pray along with me, won't you? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!

RE: PRAYERS!!

Melanie, I do hope everything goes smoothly and it ends up being a good experience! I remember how I felt the first times when I left the baby with my husband... it wasn't really all that relaxing...;)), but it also gets easier every time they "practice" together, remember that, too!

Thanks for "awing" my workoutweek, it was a good week, I'm glad to say:). It was also nice adding some new tapes (Kari Anderson, C.Prickett) to my routine. This week I tried Mindy Mylrea's Awesome Intervals which ended up feeling tougher than I first thought (my legs were quite sore the next day, which was a little surprising, it didn't feel that tough!). I really enjoyed the workout as an alternative interval workout, though the cuing I found quite bad. Maybe we're just spoiled by Cathe -quality...;))) Anybody else done that one? Thoughts?

Enjoy your week,

Maria

RE: PRAYERS!!

Hi Melanie,
Our prayers go out to you with dh watching Justin. I know when I go to work and leave hubby with Alexis , I don't worry about her, I worry about him as sge just keeps crying til I return. I know Alexis is in good hands so I don't worry about her, a little crying never hurt anyone but it is hard for hubby. Yes, I am a little old for having wisdom teeth pulled but they grew in fine due to having other teeth removed as a teen, but now they just keep decaying. Suprisingly, I am feeling pretty good and am going to try a light workout, but yea, I do everything late, got the chicken pox in my 20's. In terms of hi/lo start with action packed, it packs almost as much punch as a cathe. This and extreme intervals are my favorite mindy's. If you decide you now like hi/lo , I'll give you other recommendations.

RE: PRAYERS!!

Okay, my next day I"m tight on time, I'll go for it & try Action Packed hi/lo...and then I'll give you my input. ;-)

Maria, I found Mindy about 3 years ago. I started with her Sports Cardio workout & really like her right from the beginning. She's chatty...but real. She seems like a gal you'd meet at the coffee shop with. Although, recently I've seen her trying to sell some strength training 6second abs apparatus on TV. Hmmmmm. Anyway, her cuing is NOT as good as Cathe...but she's my 2nd favorite. Can you guess who my first favorite is?

Okay, I'm about an hour away from leaving for the day. DH is pumped & excited about having Justin for the day! :) I'll let you guys know how it goes!!!!

RE: Finally checking in

I delivered on February 21st...two weeks early...healthy baby boy, 7 lbs, 2 oz. Started working out two weeks ago, this is my third week. Feeling much better after a tough c-section. Cathe has definitely put me back on the road to success (along with Weight Watchers). So far I have lost 31 lbs...18 more to go!! Baby is 8 weeks old so I feel I am doing quite well...I have enjoyed reading your posts...great encouragement while I was unable to move...glad I can now join the crowd!

Workouts for the week (4/11):
Sun: Off
Mon: CTX - 10-10-10
Tues: CTX - All Step
Wed: CTX - Kickbox
Thurs: CTX - Step Intervals
Fri: Off
Sat: CTX - Power Circuit + Standing/Floor Legs (timesaver #5)

I will be doing the same rotation this week (4/18)...I will mix it up a bit more the following week.

RE: Finally checking in

I hate checkin in late because I can't remember all that's above!!!

Lets see vgigi....ease into it...you're doing great. Those first weeks are kind of tough (and fun to be exercising at the same time!!), but don't expect too much from yourself..it will come. Your workouts look great. Glad your checking in.

Mon - SBwarmup and combo 2&3 blast premix, SJP hi/lo 19 min add on and SS Upperbody blast
Tue - KPC/L&G and abs premix combo
Wed - Bootcamp, no weighted leg work, but all else
Thurs - Imax I
Fri - Sat - :-( :-( :-( Just too busy Garage sales etc
Sun - PH and Imax II 1-5

I haven't done PH in an eternity and man were my legs sore. I think it's all the redundant squats and pure lunges with those slow ends. I do L&G and don't get this sore!!! I love to mix things up and hit muscles in new ways. My upper body isn't sore at all and I went lots heavier than Cathe - interesting. I must be leaving my legs out too much :7 :7 :7 .

Shopaholic. Is Mindy's tape as tough as say an IMAX I or BC all cardio type workout??? I LOVE intervals and HILO work. It's taking cardio to a whole new level. I want to find some workouts that have an incredibly intense interval session for 30-45 minutes. I'm VERY VERY VERY VERY close to ordering the Power 90X DVD's. I'm waiting to get the 15% off and then it's a done deal. Also I found that Body for Jake thing at a garage sale for $5 and I'm going to sell it on ebay and hopefully make some $$$ and get the P90X series. It's looks incredibly intense and I've always wanted to work on pullups.

Melanie...I prayed for you on Tuesday (actually DH and Justin!!) Hope all went well!!

Question.....how is your hair situation guys. My hair always starts to fall out around 5 months post pardum and it's starting. I am wondering if it is nutritional or because baby keeps pulling on my hair!!!! I suspect both, but probably more nutritional. I'm taking a B complex to help the situation. AND I'm going to put my hair up most days so he can't PULL on it and see if this helps. I'm getting some of those clip things to keep it up, but gentle on hair.

RE: Finally checking in

Hi girls! Another late check-in here, and my first official one too. Not a great way to start I guess, but this is the first time I've been online all week.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome last week. Aidan is not a family name. It's just one we picked out of a babyname book that we liked. My husband's name also begins with an 'A' and we are intentionally choosing 'A' names for our kids. It kind of narrows our choices.

I had an OK week for my first week back exercising. Monday and Tuesday were rainy and miserable then each day after that just kept getting nicer. My husband coaches baseball and when it is nice out, we go to the games. That makes it even harder to get a workout in, but we enjoy going to the games and being outside so much, I don't mind too much. Baseball season is so short anyway.

Well, here was my week if I can remember right.

Mon - Winsor Pilates (WP) Bun & Thigh and SJ&P step only.
Tues - WP Abs and IMAX 2 1-7
Wed - WP Advanced Body Slimming and KPC warmup (got inturrupted and never returned)
Thurs - KPC intermed & high intesity drills and combo 3
Fri - off
Sat - off
Sun - off

RE: Finally checking in

Amy, you are doing great with two young ones. It is so nice to have new people join us.
Briee, In terms of intensity, I'd say Mindy's interval express is the closest to a cathe.
I love extreme intervals but it is not as hard as a cathe. Action packed workout is intense but short about 30 minutes of cardio +w/u and cooldown but 2 workouts hi/lo and step. I didn't like awesome intervals. You would probably really like helen vandenburg's bootcamp, step and stretch and her raw fusion workout, you can see clips of each on collagevideo.com. She uses intervals with some weights.

Quick note

Just a quick note to say that Tuesday went MARVELOUS! It couldn't have gone any smoother. Justin & Dad had a blast together. It's quite obvious to me that God was in control of this situation. Thanks so much for your prayers!!

RE: Quick note

Melani-glad things went so well on Tuesday!:)

vgigi-welcome and congrats on your little boy. Glad to have you join us.

Amy-we do baseball also--9 yo ds is in Little League and between practices and games, this time of the year is extraordinarily busy!

I feel like I've been out of the loop--hubby was gone until last night, so I wanted to get all of our week's schooling done so that we could kick back and relax with him on his day off. Whew! I am tired.

Hi to everyone else--I am having a total brain freeze and can't think of what I was going to write. You know, they say we lose brain cells with every pregnancy, which means that Briee and I are in TROUBLE:7 :7. (Actually I don't know if that is really true, but it sure feels like it---who am I? What am I doing in this room? What is your name, child?....:p I'd better quit now.

take care all
Maggie

RE: Quick note

Oh Maggie...how could you mention the brain freeze. Today I called my mom to tell her about the day and she said "I already talked to you just a little while ago". I said "I did?????" REALLY????" And my mom is 80...you'd think she would be the one forgetting, but she only had 3 children :p :p :p .

Thank you for kind words/prayers

Yes, we survived Tuesday!! My DH & DS did wonderful! Yeah!!! This week has just fallen into place. DS has had a MARVELOUS week as far as contentment goes. Perhaps the touch of colic has left? He's 14weeks old tomorrow. Time flies!

Amy, my husband coaches little league too! Wow! We have such great dedicated Daddy's don't we? Our games go for about 1.5-2hrs long. I have historically taken 30-60min to jog/run during this time. This gives me some valuable exercise time w/o feeling guilty about taking time away from the family AND I'm able to still see DH play ball for a good bulk of time too. It works out marvelous. This year, I will use the jogging stroller. Can't wait!!!!

BF is going well too. I feel so blessed that I've been able to keep milk supply up. Another yeah!!! I was a little concerned that my breasts don't seem as full as they used too. Then I realized that there's nothing to worry about b/c little Justin has been able to get his full & he's growing so much!! I'm so silly worrying about things that don't need worrying about. As if I need to search out worries. Silly me.

Shopaholic, I did Action Packed hi/lo. Hated it. I can't tell you why I don't like hi/lo. It's strange. Could it be I"m not coordinated enough? I can do step/kickboxing no problem. I'm just not good at hi/lo. I can do Cathe's stuff...but I don't even enjoy doing her hi/lo. Not for me, I guess.

RE: Thank you for kind words/prayers

Melanie, glad it went so well for hubby. Miss Alexis still has her moods when she only wants me. She will cry and cry for my hubby and stop the minute she is put in my arms. Sorry you didn't like action packed hi/lo, its funny how we all have our preferences. Fo you have cathe's mic? Is so do you like the hi/lo on this tape?
