Post partum check in - week of 12/21/03

emy

Cathlete
Hi! I'm on the computer taking a break from all the in-laws chaos, and I thought I'd start our thread early this week. I am wiped out! But I've done all my workouts this week and I feel good about that.

Mon- Push Pull total body (2 sets)
Tue- SJ&P warm up and step + SB sections 1,2, and 3 add on (no challenge) + SJ&P abs and stretch
Wed- L&G Xtreme (standing only)
Thu- Time Saver all upper body segments back to back
Fri- KP&C cardio conditioning premix + Timesaver day # 5 lower body
Sat- KP&C warm up and kicking and punching drills + SJ&P hi/lo add on + KP&C abs and stretch

We are stuck at the in-laws 2 days more than planned due to snow and Max is fussy because of all the noise and not sleeping well. I am ready to go home! Hope your holiday plans are going well. How are your babes handling it?

PS - Have you noticed any foods that you cannot eat due to nursing? I think chocolate makes Max upset, and am very disappointed due to my annual 2 pound box of See's nuts and chews from my aunt and uncle! How sad!

Emy, just thought I'd browse at the post partum post... daydreaming about the day I'll be able to come over here. Wow! You are truely amazing! You're workouts are amazing! I"m impressed, can you tell? How are you doing with post-pregnancy weight? With a workout log like this one (especially during the holidays) I can't imagine you're too far from your goal (if you haven't already met it).
You are an inspiration!!! Keep up the great work & I'll see you in a few weeks. :) Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays everyone. I just returned from my in laws house. Alexis was so happy to be home . She slept less at my in laws , probably since she was in the pack and play in the room with us. She was also fussy being around too many people on christmas and then last night at my brother in laws holiday party. My workouts were not as impressive as yours Emy. I did my workouts from Wed-Sat in my in laws small basement. I left a buns of steel step there and weights. Made my husband bring with us a tv/vcr along with all our baby items. Emy did you bring your step to your in laws?
Melanie, before you know it you'll be joining this check in.

Workout week:
Sunday-Supersets
Monday-Step Blast
Tues-Timesaver-did all upper body portions twice then all ab sections once followed by timesaver day 5 kickboxing
Wed-Timesaver legs/glutes
Thurs-Firm-cardio burn+firm body sculpt upper body
Friday-Firm-max cardio plus abs+firm body scupt lower body
Sat-Mindy Mylrea-Action Packed-hi/lo

Well Hello. Sounds like everyone survived Christmas all right. And although I was anxious about ours, it went very well--extended family behaved pretty well and when they didn't, I had to go nurse:p .

Emy--although I don't have BB yet, your workouts do look impressive and Whaaa! I cannot drink coffee, unless I want a somewhat fussy baby. It seems to disagree with him and he has a harder time getting to sleep.

Shopaholic--Even though we didn't spend the night anywhere else for Christmas, we went up to my brothers house for the afternoon and Mr. Baby does not rest or nurse as well there. I am not really sure why.

Melanie--less than a month to go--How exciting!

I did start working out again last week. And I am sooo sad not to be able to do more intense (and fun IMHO) cardio, but at least I am able to do some. So I am doing a Pure Strength Rotation this month with all the older step videos (which I have an easier time modifying. I am also doing more stationary bike (boring) to build up the muscles around my knee.

Mon--PS CST, 20 min stationary bike
Tues--Wedding Video cardio--no step, very little jumping
Wed--PS BBA, 20 min bike
Thurs--off
Fri--Wedding Video cardio--4" step, a little more jumping
Sat--PS CST, 22 min bike
Today--Step Jam, 4" step, some jumping

I lost another pound, despite the injury and questionable eating. I think it is because Bardric is such a big baby and nurses so much (?)
Or maybe I lost some muscle. Who knows?

well, take care everyone
Maggie
13 down:), 37 to gox(

Melanie, Thanks for the compliments! I must give my thanks and credits to Jillybean for the rotation (you can find it in the Rotations Forum - Body Blast DVD Premix rotation).

This will be my first ever completed rotation. I am now sold on rotations (I was pretty anti up until this point - when I figured I'd give it a try because I need to lose weight). I have maybe 10 pounds or less to go.

Shopaholic, I guess babies get fussy when they are out of their element, plus all the noise. You brought your TV/VCR! I would've if I had to! My husband couldn't believe I dragged most (I would have brought all of it if there was room) of my equipment with me - my step with 4 pairs of risers, and 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, & 15 pound dumbells. I wanted to bring my barbell too, but he drew the line there. Anyway, your workouts look pretty ambitious, don't discount yourself. I hope you feel good about your accomplishments - you didn't even take a rest day!

Maggie, Good job with the workouts this week. I hope the knee injury is healing. I'm sure the strength workouts aid in weightloss.

Emy, I am glad to know I am not the only one who brought fitness eqiuptment to relatives for the holidays. My hubby drew the line at the vcr/tv and my assortment of videos. i have been able to leave a buns of steel step, 5, 8 and 10 pound weights at their home. I must say i really enjoyed my firms and did feel the workouts. It was a nice change from my cathes. This past Sunday was my rest day due to traveling and then getting organized at home. Maggie, thanks for the wonderful picture of your adorable son. Was that beaty in the picture, your daughter? Maggie i hope your knee feels better soon.

Shopaholic--I am so glad that you got it. Our outbox wouldn't send it and we hadn't had time to figure out what was going on and I was going to post that I was sorry it was taking so long:7. Yes, the little blond girl is our 4 year old. Now I have to go the other thread to see who else wanted a picture and get it sent.

Thanks for the concern about my knee everyone. It is feeling much better, but I am taking things really slow and easy so that I don't reinjure it, hence the focus on strength training this month. Lifting heavy makes me really hungry, so I'll be interested to see what kind of results I get.

take care
Maggie

Ugh! Poor little Bardric is teething and has a fever and is sooo uncharactaristically cranky:-(. He drools so much that I have had to put a bib on him or his clothes get all wet. Any other babies teething yet?

Maggie

Poor Maggie, knee injury and now sick bardric. Hope the new year is better. I keep thinking Alexis is teething but everyone keeps telling me she's too young. She is drooling and sucking on hands alot more. Any other moms spending new years at home? we got
olive garden dinner to go and plan to watch tv.

Yes, we are at home--New Years is never a big holiday around here. Actually, the knee is feeling a lot better, but I am still going to take it slow this month to get it back to where it was. I know he seems young to teethe, but I can't figure out what else might be going on. So much drool and hand chewing/sucking...

take care
Maggie

Same here! Max is trying to fit his fist in his mouth and drooling everywhere as of the last couple weeks.

Sad news is I finally got on a scale (first time since 6 week post partum check up) and I have more to go that I thought. It's more like 15 pounds than the less than 10 I previously thought. So, nothing like New Year's Day to commit to more weight loss, and kicking the workouts up a notch!

Maggie, feel free to send a picture of the babe: [email protected]

Emy, I cannot imagine you kicking your workouts "up a notch"...you're already top notch in that department. Are you eating healthy & drinking lots of water?

Last month I only gained 1 pound & I was feeling real proud of myself. Then I went to the dr yesterday & I gained 5 pounds in one week!!!! Unbelievable. I'm right around the 30-lb mark & I have 3.5 weeks left until my due date. I'll have to watch my diet more closely. It doesn't help when my hubby brings home donuts for breakfast while I'm working out this morning!!!!

It took me 3 mos to lose all my weight w/my 1st baby. You'll do it, especially with your workouts you're doing. I forgot, how much did you gain with your pregnancy (if you don't mind me asking-- very personal please ignore if you don't feel comfortable)? If I remember correctly it was minimal.

Happy holidays!

Emy--as soon as I can corner hubby, I will send the picture.

Maybe you have gained some muscle? I would measure myself if I were you and just see if that might not be the case.

Bardric's fever seems to have passed, but here in Oregon we have a really nasty flu going around--I guess it's all over the country. I've tried really hard to keep the kids well, but it is almost impossible.

take care,
Maggie

Maggie, i am glad Bardric is feeling better.
Melanie, your weight gain might start slowing down around now. With alexis, I gained quite a few pounds weeks 28-32 then loss about week 33 and as you guys now had Alexis 1o days early.
Emy, are you sure some of the weight is not fluid, or as i always say boob. With your rigorous workout rotations, i am sure the weight will come off soon. According to shape magazine this month they say even in the best coditions it takes 6 months to resume prepregnancy shape. How much is everbody's babies sleeping? Today Alexis arose for the day at 8 am after sleeping 10:30-5 then 5:30-8(actually we don't know if she slept. we put her awake in her swing and when hubby woke up at 8 she was awake. Throughout the day she only took 2 20 min. naps.

I'm almost 37weeks pregnant now, so I"m hoping weight will stabilize (or a little deficeit would be nice). As long as baby is healthy...this is all that matters for now. I can focus on weight loss after baby's born :) right guys?!?!?
Here in Minnesota we have the flu bug going around too. Must be an epidemic this year. We've been all out of flu vaccines for a while now.
Hope everyone gets/stays healthy.
