Possible Ebay scam?

Seller "zh2811p" has been selling multiple copies of Rhythmic Step--as soon as one is sold they put another one up for auction. I have contacted them and asked them to confirm that they are not selling fraudulant copies and big surprise---no reply. Buyers beware! Unfortunately at a costly $49.99, a $30.00 fake is tempting for many.
 
Yeah, I noticed that, too. I was a bit suspicious so I e-mailed them and asked if the DVD's were new or used, since it didn't say on the listing. Again, no reply. I would definitely be cautious with this seller!
 
People like this should be relegated to the seventh level of hell (or whatever Dante saw as the very worst one!).

I don't believe the gaul of these people. And Ebay doesn't seem to be too concerned about it.
 
I wonder if any of the people in bidding wars for these DVDs are on these message boards and why they so eagerly participate. One bidder has been bidding in a number of these DVDs so you would think she'd start to figure the obvious. Frankly, I would be really irritated to know I dropped $30+ dollars on a burned copy. In fact, I did end up with such a copy once (I paid much less) so I look carefully before buying helping to ensure that I'm not buying off of some street corner fraud. !@#$#@!
 
I was selling an original FIRM on dvd. One lady emailed me and asked if it was the original (mind you, I posted original in the auction). She then went on to mention that it didn't matter if it was or not because she wanted it and wasn't going to pay for it in the stores. My auction also stated OOP (out of print).

Some people really don't care as long as they have the item. I don't think ebay gives a hoot either. Bidders need to ask ?'s, lots of them. W/ no response from the seller that should tell you something.:( W/ me having my own burning software, I can tell when it is a copy. People work hard for their money and sellers like these just need to be stopped.

I have bought Cathes on ebay (vhs only). They were fine.
Hope your future purchases go a lot better on the cathes. Some of her stuff sells for more than what you would pay on her website!!!!

I wonder if you can actually post her site in an auction. Say something like "go to www.cathe.com for more workouts". I wonder if that would stop the bootleggers?
 
I may be asking a question with an obvious answer but how can you tell if it is a burned copy? Will it just be on a plain DVD without the print on it and without the jacket? Also, would the burned copy have all the premixes and extras that the original has? If this is how they do it, how can they get away with it and not have tons of people complain?

Oh No! I am one of those who purchased from this person. I didn't take the time to research what this seller had been selling. I only looked at the feedback because the auction was so close to ending. I haven't received my DVD yet. I hope this person is honest. If not, I'll complain to Ebay and see what happens.

I just found this info on Ebay:

Guideline: If the product you are selling bears the name or logo of a company, but it wasn't made or endorsed by that company, don't list it on eBay.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

Listing cancellation

Limits on account privileges

Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

Loss of PowerSeller status

Report counterfeit or replica items.

Report unauthorized copies of media.

Not exactly, but you need to look closely to find out. The DVD's I received from e-bay had the same picture on the DVD itself and had all the pre-mixes (although the picture was rougher than on official DVD's). But if you turn the DVD over, look closely at the center opening: official Cathe DVD's have small printing right around the center opening in white letters that reads "Step N Motion" or the title of the DVD. The frauds don't have that. Also, the frauds I received had a wide gray band on the undersise of the DVD, and official DVD's do not.

It's really hard to tell, and I only know this because I received frauds, and learned all about the differences on this site. I am hoping that if we keep posting the names of bad sellers and keep talking about how to tell the difference, others won't have to deal with the frauds.

I bet you bucks that even if it is reported ebay would probably just stop the auction in ?. After I posted my earlier response I pulled up that seller on ebay. It looks like he is just scanning the cover of the dvd. I bet a lot of people buy the originals and then copy them and sell the copies. Heck, they may even just sell the original like I did. I can see how the copies could look exactly like the originals, if you do it right. He could be just scanning the cover of the cd itself and printing it on high grade label making paper. Or he could be going to a certain site and saving a picture of the cover onto his computer. It's all in the quality of your printer. Some sellers I have seen in the past have given an actual pic of the dvd, but it will be blurry. In the future my Cathe purchases will only be done on her site. It is safer that way. Plus, w/ no response to emails, it makes the seller look bad.
 
I have yet to hold an actual Cathe dvd in my hands.:) Putting the marks on the back and the front is very wise. Unless the info on the back of the cd is an actual sticker of some type, I doubt they can duplicate that area w/out a buyer noticing it. Too bad it's after the fact.:(
 
But, until you mentioned this i never looked at it myself.
I just plop it in. I never examine my disks and i am sure most people don't. I have bought all mine direct so i never worried.
What i am saying is anything is possible with the right equipment.
There are alot of crooks out there.

Don't most home-burned DVD's have a different color on the back (often purple or blue)?

I wonder if the FBI would actually do anything if they were contacted about this seller? The warnings at the beginning of every commercial video and DVD make it sound like they are tough on those who copy and distribute these media illegally.
 
Not every brand of dvd you burn onto changes color like that. I use 2 differrent ones. The ones that don't do it are "nexXtech" ones. At least they never do it on my computer. I buy them at Fry's Electronics or Circuit City.

At the beginning of my selling on ebay I had some "desert diamonds" from Saudi Arabia for sale. They were uncut stones. Stronger than a quartz but just under a diamond. The person who won the auction was taking too long to pay. I went snooping into their feedback and started going through their auctions that they previously won. Well, since they were the winning bidder of my auction, I had their address. Lo' and behold, what are the auction that they have won in the past?????????? A lot of decor from Saudi and then nothing but specific pamphlets on how specific U.S. aircraft are put together. I called the local FBI in their town, explained everything and let them take it from there. If I can find their user i.d. I will post it.

The auction that they won from me was in the 3rd week of December of 2004. If you pull up their bidding history, they have a non paying bidder in the 3rd week of July in 2005, and then no auction winnings after that at all. I wonder if they were really into something. If so, I hope they got caught. They live in Maryland.
 
I bought a new CD/DVD Rom which is also an CD and DVD burner for our old computer and it comes with a program that allows one to make a laser label on a DVD. I cannot use it with my old computer because the OS is out of date. My newer computer has no DVD burner but I could install that burner/rom and replicate a label, I think. Still don't DVD's that are burned show they are back up copies of DVD's and warn about copyright infringement? Most DVD's have that feature built in so how do these people get a burn without it?

I paid 95 bucks for the 4 pack download. They send you emails and pop up notices when there are new versions to download. If you lok at the back of the newer dvd's you will notice 2 cd's w/ a crossed out circle over them. That means that you can't copy them. Well w/ slysoft you can.
