I just got a Polar F4 and tried it out today when I was doing CTX upper body and it said I burned of 300 calories, could that be right? Also, does anyone know how to put your height in? The directions didnt help me. Thanks, Lori

Hey Lori,

I have the same one and did not have any problems putting the info in. I will have to go down to the basement and get the book to look it up.

Hi Anne,

I have never used a strapless one and since the strap doesn't bother me, I doubt I ever will.

The thing about the ones with no strap...you don't get a constant reading. You pretty much have to stop what you are doing and put your thumb or whatever on it to get a reading. If you have to stop or slow down to take a reading, then your heart rate is going to drop so the reading will be fudged.

They are excellent gauges. If there is a way you can fall in love with it, I'd give it another try!

I found the strap to be a little annoying at first, but I quickly got used to it. You may have it on too tight as well. I would definitely give it a week's worth of workouts before you decide either way.

I think your strap is too tight as well. I forget I even have mine on!! I think it is a great incentive tool. I wore mine hiking the last weekend, and although my heartrate was not in my "zone" for the whole hike, I did burn almost 800 calories!!! It was a longer hike....but so much fun too....I also wore it to muscle class at the gym yesterday, and was pleasently suprised to find out that my heartrate doing muscle qualifies as a cardio workout as well.....

Anne, yes, you have to put it under your clothes. It should kinda stick to you. You're supposed to dampen the "electrodes" and press it against your skin so it will stay put.

Mine hits right where my sports bra band hits so I don't even notice it.
