hi educated crowd! ;)

i'm trying to decide which new ryka shoe to get. it seems not many stores carry ryka anymore, to be able to try them on, so i'm contemplating ordering them online.

i've been wearing the rythmn for the last couple years. they're okay..but nothing outstanding for me. i was thinking of trying either the ENLIGHT II or the new N-GAGE shoe. (i have problems with shin splints and bad knees...and ususally wear a cross training spenco in my shoes as well, and workout on a gymnastic type mat set up) i want to take my workouts to the next level with more impact, but really need a shoe that will cushion my poor aching legs.

WHICH SHOE SHOULD I GET? ENLIGHT II OR N-GAGE? i know the enlight is a low cut shoe, and n-gage is a high top...i don't really need lateral support as much as i'm really wanting comfort and cushion!

i wanted to order it asap..so i'd appreciate your input and thoughts!!!

imax 2....here i come! :D

thanks!

Sorry I can't tell you which type to get but I did see some RYKA's at the Sports Authority. If they have both, maybe you can try them for yourself.

I have Rhythm II's. I love 'em. I haven't tried either of the other two. Kinda makes you wonder what the heck I bothered posting for, huh? (psssst..... bored;) )

I bought the Rythm II, the Enlight II, and the Nike Shox crosstrainer about 3 months ago (yes, I know I have a "shoe" obsessive compulsive disorder }( ) I liked the Nike best of the 3 for overall cushion and stability. The only thing I don't like is that every once in a while it lightly catches on the carpet. The Ryka's are a close second but I get a slight tingling sensation in the toe area of my feet about 1/2 hour into a workout with the Rythm II giving it to me the worst.

On my quest to find the ultimate workout crosstrainer, I just bought the Ryka Affirm XT and after 3 days of using them in various workouts for the Aug rotation, I am loving them. Very light on my feet but I feel very stable and with a lot of cushion along the entire foot base. It is a low-cut shoe which I find typically works best for my feet.

Hope this helps, Sue

gee wiz, i replied to this post twice yesterday, but it didn't post. :(

thanks so much for your responses. i'm trying to decide b/t the enlight II and the affirm. sue, the affirm is cross training shoe, vs. the enlight being a 'studio aerobic'shoe. i, too, have the same problem with the tingling foot syndrome w/ the rythmn. :p did you find the cushion in the affirm to be just as good or better than the cushion in the elight? i'm primarily looking for cushion for my aching knees and shins.

thanks so much! :)

I bought them both . HAte them. I have asics gt something runners and they are my favorite and they have a breathable mesh. Don't order them go try them. You'll end up wasting money if you don't like them.Go to dicks or somewhere thay sells shoes ask them and try them. They all fit too different.

thanks, anne....

well, i know..i probably have to go out and find a place that carries a decent selection to try on. darn, since lady foot locker stopped carrying rykas, it makes it so much harder to access the different styles, and companies...in a 'one stop shop' to try on and decide. grrrr...

btw, those asics sound great! i have some asics i use for walking and love them...i may have to check them out!

thanks so much!

Okay, I have the Enlight on one foot and the Affirm on the other and I'd have to say that the cushioning is pretty darn close. The Affirm feels like a "spongey" cushion while the Enlight feels like a stiff cushion if that makes sense. Also the Enlight sits a little higher around my ankle while the Affirm sits lower. I also have aching knees and whether its the Enlights, increase in joint supplements, or just my mind playing tricks}( , they have been feeling better this week. Sue

ETA, sorry, not the Enlights making my knees feel better but the Affirms...
