Please share gift ideas

Hey gang:

I thought I would share a few killer finds with everyone and see what you guys are coming up with for nifty Christmas gifts.

Target (my favorite store) now carries some Smith & Hawken items! I got a narcissus bulb kit in a nice glazed urn for $20 something. And a couple of 5 lb. bags of gourmet bird seed for $9.99 each. And Target has nice white canvas bags of pistachios for $7.49, so I bought a bunch of them as gifts for my co-workers.

Whether they like it or not, my girlfriends are getting a copy of Eat to Live and a Tae Bo tape because, geez, they all need to get it figured out. I spent the extra money and bought a Cathe tape for my very best friend because she's an amazon like me! For my investment club I found neat little $5 bottles of dried tomatoe powder from Olivier & Co. (in Grand Central Station, but probably on the net, too).

For all others who slip through the cracks I bought a case of the Rosemount Estate Mountain Blue Mudgee (Shiraz and Cab blend). OMG - delicious stuff and reasonably priced. I'll drink as much as I can and grudgingly give away the rest.

What about you guys?

hey! i'm glad u like Target which is where i work. i'll have to ask about Smith&Hawkins. i work in the kiddies dept so i'm not real familiar with the other side of the store. i am not sure what to get my dad or oldest sis yet.

LMAO!

I don't buy for co-workers or friends any longer. Last year my boss bought for me and I gave her a gift card. This year I told her to please contribute the funds elsewhere as I am trying to make order of the chaos of crap in my house. (Also, I only want fitness stuff and no one except the SO can be reasonably expected to find exactly what I want.... he gets an email with links, hehe.)

But I salute you! It's so nice that you're really thinking it out and finding great buys...

God, Shelley, how rude! I give out cartons of cigarettes and early 70's porn videos.

Seriously, Charlotte. Books, books, and more books. Also, music. I'm giving my 12-year old nephew "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner" by Ben Folds Five (since he's taking guitar lessons from the former bass play, yet doesn't own any of his music) and Arcade Fire's "Funeral." Ten-year old niece is getting the Beatles "Let it Be" and Lennon's "Imagine." (she's a huge John Lennon fan).

Stepmom gets a sweater, gift certificate to a spa, and book of poetry. Hubby gets the books"The God Delusion," "The Boys of Everest," and "Thunderstruck;" a wallet; a knife sharpener; a bottle of Brunella (which is selfish, 'cause I get to drink it, too!) and the priveldge of being married to me for another year.

Since we have no other close family memebers, that's it--I get together with friends, and our gift to each other is that we don't have to buy gifts for each other. Same with my husband's sister and brother-in-law. We told them long ago that we should stop worrying about gifts for each other, and they thought it was a great idea.
