Please help me put these Cathe's in order

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me put these Cathe workouts in order from least to most difficult for each category (step, kickboxing, mixed). I know this is probably highly subjective, but I just want to get a general idea on how to progress. Thanks!

STEP:
Step Heat
Step Jam
Step Max
MIC (Step Portion)
Power Max
Step Fit
Step Works
CTX All Step
Body Max (Step Portion)
Rhythmic Step

KICKBOX:
Cardio Kicks
CTX Kickbox

MIXED:
CTX 10-10-10
CTX Power Circuit

If this has already been discussed in previous threads, could someone please provide a link. Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris

My opinion:

Step
Step Works
Step Fit
Rhthymic Step
CTX All Step
Step Jam
Step Max
Power Max
Step Heat
MIC
Body Max

Kickbox
Cardio Kicks
CTX Kickbox

Mixed
Power Circuit
10-10-10

Hardest at the top I have gone for those that I find hard but doable CTX is tricky and Rhthymic Step but when you get the moves then you get the intensity. PC and 10-10-10 when I first did them I hated floor work and I still don't like the Hi/lo in 10-10-10. But I love the floor work in MIC go figure.

This is just my opinion. CTX All Step, is more intense than Rhythmic Step, but RS is 46 min. and All Step is 22 min. so I did shorter ones in a seperte category. I also added some videos that you didn't list, I hope that's okay!

STEP 30 min or more (all are judged on 8" boards):
Step Heat
MIC (Step Portion Only)
Step Max
Step Fit
Step Jam
Rhythmic Step
Power Max
Step Works
Imax

STEP less than 30 min (all are judged on 8" boards):
CTX All Step
CTX Step Intervals
Body Max (Step Portion Only)

KICKBOX:
CTX Kickbox
Cardio Kicks

MIXED:
CTX Power Circuit
CTX 10-10-10
Circuit Segment from Body Max
Circuit Max

Hi MSU gal:

from me down the road at Uof M gal!!

Babs' list looks good to me with two exceptions!

Step heat is easy peasy, good for moments when you are just getting used to Cathe or have been out of exercise mode for a while. After two weeks though, you won't be needing it anymore.

Step Works on the other hand is right up there with MIC. It is intense, with some interval blasts that really get you, in addittion to a tough 40 minute + routine. Just try that last move (sideways lunges with height!) on an 8 inch step after all the previous moves!!!!!

So: here's my final order on the step portions you mention (and the ones I atually own and have done regularly):

1) Step heat
2) Step jam (hate it, yucky arm movements, hideous music, sorry!)
3) CTX All Step (shorter) and Step Fit (longer) tie
4) Rhythmic Step
5) Powermax and MIC step portion and CTX power circuit (love this)
6) Step Works
7) Bodymax.

I don't do Kickbox very often, so I'll leave that to others to evaluate.

Bye,

Clare

Don't be sorry, I just wanted to add that I love Step Jam and wish I could do it more often. I actually like the music. I must be cheesy! Oh well, to each their own. But I agree - Power Circuit does rock!!!!

There's difficult, and there's difficult. Tricky choreography difficult, or intense workout difficult?

IMO, the toughest intense workout ones are Step Works, MIC, Body Max, Imax, and Circuit Max, and any CTX cardio except Kickbox.

Once you've done a few Cathe tapes, none of them are hard to learn - EXCEPT for Rythmic Step. It's not real intense, but the choreography is the trickiest.

Did that help at all?

Just Do It! :)

Honeybunch is right, there's tough and then there's tough. RS is tricky but keep at it, if I can learn it (and I did after 4 tries) then anyone can. And you can make a workout harder or easier. For CTX Kickbox for example, I do jacks when they march, and I do ice breakers when she does uppercuts during the arm drills. I also have rewound the power scissors segment and done that twice. If I have lots of time and energy, I add on the power drills from Cardio Kicks to the end of CTX Kickbox. There are other things too like during Step Heat or Step Max, whenever they do a bunch of basics in a row, change them to run ups. I have broken a huge sweat doing Step Fit. When Cathe and crew do the jacks and then taps to the foot taps to the right and left, I do airborn jacks. You can also do side ups instead of side steps and add power to anything. AND THEN there are days when I have to modify the intensity of even the warm-ups. It all depends on how sleepy I am, PMS, food intake, etc. Have fun!

CTX 10-10-10 trickier choreography
CTX Power Circuit harder workout

If so I'm curious as to what, if anything, you might know about Michigan Tech. Thinking about sending my engineering bound son there. Plenty of snow I hear.

Honeybunch was totally right on that summary by the way;-)

Thanks,

Clare,

Its bizarre but I really have a problem with the 3 section in Step Heat I just hate it "I hate that move heel toe over the step" yukk that is my least favourite move in all of Cathe's tapes.

Conversely I find Step Works easier its bizarre.
