Please advise me on this rotation

Hi all,

I'm new to Cathe, but have been exercising since I was 19. I'm 29 now. Anyway, I just started this rotation that I want to do for a month. On Mon, Wed and Fri I do MIC plus some type of ab work for~6-10 minutes. On Tue, Thurs, and Sat I do the first step portion of Body Max and then Bootcamp ( the highest weight I use in bootcamp is 30lbs combined-I'm not as strong as you guys!). On Sunday I rest. I started last week, but took two days off b/c I had a cold. Now I'm back on track. This rotation hard for me, but think I can keep it up. Do you think that I could hurt myself doing this?

Thanks

Hi Lorrie.

You might want to add some pure strength training, perhaps twice a week, once in place of Bootcamp and once in place of MIC (I don't really consider Boot Camp to be a strength training workout). I don't know if you have any of Cathe's weight workouts, but if not, you might want to get some. I personally wouldn't do MIC three days a week; I'd mix in some kickboxing or something. Hopefully one of the more educated crowd (more so than I am, I mean) can tell you if doing MIC or Bootcamp three times a week is bad for you. My gut instict says that it might be a strain on you.

Hopefully, you'll get more helpful responses than mine appears to be!

Hi Lorrie,

I would think that this rotation would be very stressful on your knees, particularly if you use the 8" step that Cathe uses, as well as getting boring very quick. Do you have any other workouts to use to mix things up a bit? Do you like any other form of exercise such as running or kickboxing that could be alternated with some of the stepping? People on this forum can be very creative in their rotation suggestions, so if you have some more workout alternatives, they could probably put together something fun. Some suggestions with the three workouts you mentioned are:

1. MIC hi/lo followed by BootCamp cardio premix

2. BodyMax Step followed by MIC Step (or switch this order)

3. MIC Step followed by BodyMax Circuits

4. BootCamp cardio and lower body premix followed by BodyMax Upper Body & abs

Just some ideas to mix things up a bit :)

Sandra

Thank you for your suggestions, Sandra. I may mix it up a bit.

The only other Cathe videos I have are pure strength legs and wedding video. I have just ordered cardiokicks. I do have plenty of the firm video, I like them for strength training, but hate Firm's cardio style.Did not find it challenging I loved MIC. It was so tough for me, I nearly died when I first tried it, but I'm amazed much "easier" it has gotten since I've been doing it regularly. I like bootcamp alot, so I wanted to see the results if I did this for a couple of weeks only if my body could handle it.

I agree with Sandra and Shelbygirl. That's a killer routine! Cardiokicks is a great add on since kickboxing is a nice cross-training activity to go with step and hi/lo (Of course, when I was 29, I endured much more high impact than I can take today.). Having a pure strength day would be a good way to decrease the risk of injury associated with alot of intense cardio. Using the upper body work from BodyMax with the PS legs would work beautifully. Doing Bootcamp in it's entirety between pure cardio days might also be helpful. Much less cardio and wonderful strength work. You are making me remember when I was 30 and ran 35 miles a week with 2 Cathe cardio workouts and 2 strength workouts per week. Where did I get the energy? LOL! I am definitely mellowing with age (plus I developed a debilitating foot injury. Boo!) A few weeks is doable, I think, if you change it up for a few weeks in between. I tip my hat to your youth and vitality! You go, firl! LOL!
