Plea from Louisiana...don't top off your tank

All, please please do not top off your car's gas tank. Things are desperate down here in Louisiana and the panic around gasoline is making things worse. There is enough fuel for everyone. Do your part to help in this time of need by not spreading the panic.

Meredith -
I agree. Panic in Arkansas, just over gas, is ridiculous, and a few more gallons isn't going to make that much difference to us up here. As you said, there will be enough for everyone... as long as we don't act like a bunch of idiots.

I can't imagine how horrible it must be for you down there. I hope you all get relief soon.

I am glued to Fox news and it is killing me! I just can't imagine what it is like for people where you are. My heart is definitely with you.

As far as gas goes, I guess I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you saying not to top up in the South, or all over. I kind of have to where I live, but that is a long story. I am also avoiding driving recently because our local prices have soard to over 3.50 a gallon. I am just trying not to use any;-)

I sure hope you are not in the worst of it Meredith! My thoughts are with you!

It is what it is. Not much we can do about the gas prices so I just fuel up when I need to. If it cost me $60 to fill it up, then that is what it will cost. I will have to cut back on something I know. Guess a bill will have to be put off, etc. I imagine too that alot of folks will be using their credit cards just to get by until this nightmare is over cuz it is really hard to manage filling up tanks for $60 or more. JMHO I think my truck will be sitting in the driveway for sometime. GOSH, that would probably cost $100 to fill that up.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.

I don't normally top off my tank unless I am taking a long trip and now is not the time to start so you don't have to worry about me! I'm a SAHM anyway so I can really limit my gas usage when I need to!

Saying prayers to everyone on the gulf coast!

I filled up full on Sunday when I heard the hurricane was going to be really bad. I am trying to not fill up again until sometime next week, but ya have to go to work, deliver the kids places, go to the grocery....

Remember the big panic right after Sept 11, when there were lines of cars (burning fuel while in line!!)waiting to fill their tanks? And prices shot sky high? For two days or so. Then everything was better.

I just hope that aliens never invade: people panic so easily, and when they do, it seems they mostly think of themselves (and don't think too clearly at that: waiting in line for gas with a big gas-guzzling van or SUV idling and sucking up the gas you DO have left).
