Pizza! Let's debate!

Finally Jonahnah a debate I can get excited about:D!

It has got to be a thick crust, deep dish preferrably. Turkey pepperoni and broccoli have absolutely no place on a pizza! If I am going to splurge, I want to splurge! Light on the sauce, lots of yummy, melted cheese....:p...is it too early for pizza??

laura,

i have been all over(jersey city, bayonne, point beach, asubry park, bricktown) LOL but primarily my grandparents were from asbury park and elizbeth(both were children of straight off the boat german immigrants). and they settled with their 4 grandchildren in point pleasant beach! worked at the joey tomatoes on the boardwalk there, god knows how many different varieties of pizzas. jenkison's was blah but they had kickin' vinegar fries and cheesesteaks.

can't say i have been there in cherry hill but had to laugh when harold and kummar go to white castle came out b/c hey we all know where the white castles are LOL. i think my sister said that white castle is still up in cherry hill.

i am in just so lovely lynchburg,va which only has one good thing, fried chicken. although i here sausage gravy is the thing here is well it looks to weird for me to eat.

OK, I'll be the total odball on this one, but here are my requirements:

super thin crust
light cheese
black olives and mushrooms
NO pepperoini EVER
I also like the combo of artichokes, chicken, and roma tomatoes or fresh basil, tomatoes, and grilled chicken

I drink a glass of skim milk with my pizza.

There. I should one the werid award hands down for the milk/pizza thing, which totally grosses my DH out. :)

OMG! this is why I married a gourmet chef! DH's pizza is to die for!

home-made thin cracker crust
light white sauce
moz cheese
garlic chicken
seasoned parm

Or the ol' faithful:

same thin cracker crust
light red sauce (no chunks!)
pepperoni (if you're gonna be bad, might as well be REALLY bad! - no turkey in my pep)
olives, cheedar and moz cheese mix
sometimes fresh mushrooms

then these are cooked with TLC on the BBQ grill! toasted to perfection!

mmmm mmmmm good!!! but we also limit ourselves to once or twice a month, or I would have it every day!

cheers!:)

Oh I had my summer rental at Pt Pleasant, on the northern end right by the inlet. Yep, Jenkinson's is a fun place to party but their food is kinda sucky. But there really is nothing like boardwalk pizza!

Hey, you can get Brunswick stew in VA. Probably that's the only southern food I really miss--that stuff is so tasty! :)

I.LOVE. PIZZA.
I like many toppings but I think that the sauce should always be the traditional red sauce. My DH like that white pizza and gourmet junk like buffalo chicken pizza. That is not pizza to me.
I prefer a thin crust but I do on occasion et the thick stuff.

brunswick stew its the king of fundraiser dinners and potlucks for all local churches.never been myself but i see the signs all around every fall/winter. this city is a city of chain restaurants though. its sad and scary.

OK, Dani, your DH can make Pizza for me ANY day! Yum!!! :)

Now that I've courted controversy, I have to say I like my pizza BOTH ways (thick and thin crust--but not together, that's just creepy...:p)

I grew up on pepperoni, but switched to cheese only in college. Then I went through an experimental stage (didn't we all??) where I tried white, salad, clams casino, veggie explosions, chicken, spinach & mushrooms and of course, margarita. I adore Chicago style (Giordano's)!

DH makes a very good margarita w/ a thin crust but chewy edge (perfect, IMHO) I make the sauce for it, which is key, naturally. He's experimented with the grill and oven and swears we need a pizza oven because ours just don't get hot enough.

Who confesses to having cold pizza for breakfast? (raising my hand here!) Don't be ashamed!

I LOVED my grandmother's pizza! No one could make her pizza, not even my mom (my mom and grandparents came from a small town in the Southern Apennine Mountains of Italy). Her crust wasn't thick or thin -- it was just right. She brushed the top with a little olive oil, sprinkled it with a bit of salt, pepper, and oregano, then, topped it with homemade tomato sauce (or during tomato season she would just take very ripe tomatoes and squeeze them over the top YUM!!), and a sprinkling of fresh grated Romano cheese. that's it! It was TO.DIE.FOR!

Any true Jersey-ite knows Chicago style rules, especially the ones from the Uno's next to the Fairfield Inn..thank you for the great recommendation to eat there, Laura!!!!

Just kidding, just kidding....I prefer NY style, with no toppings, and there is no shame in eating pizza all day, every day, hot or cold...it's great for a pre-workout snack..a post workout snack, whenever.

thick crust vs. thin? Both. yum!
NY style vs Chicago deep dish? not sure I've had either enough to know the difference.. I've had lots of pizza though.
turkey pepperoni -is it a crime or salvation? not sure I've ever tried it.
broccoli - does it belong on pizza? ever? not on pepperoni but its great on a chicken pizza.

Here is a good recipe for a chicken pizza.. mmm. I use leftover rotisserie chicken I make. I also add broccoli!

And I'm really weird because I just can NOT eat pizza without dipping it in ranch or blue cheese salad dressing. Just another way to make something that's already unhealthy even more so. ;)

No, you are not weird! Both of my sons and now my DH "dip" their pizza!

I like any pizza that I don't have to make, wash dishes, or otherwise clean up after!
