Pilates/Yoga suggestions to compliment Cathe strength tapes

Out on the VF sight, there is a thread about getting great toning results from Pilates and Yoga. I'd really like to give this a try. I love the intensity of Cathe's stregnth tapes. I know I probably won't get the same kind of intensity from yoga and pilates, but for those of you that love Cathe's intensity, what Pilates and Yoga tapes have you enjoyed?

I love Bryan Kest's older 3-pack: Energize, Tone, and Sweat. Definitely great, challenging yoga tapes to grow with. I don't have any just Pilates tapes, all the previews I've seen so far look too boring to me; but I do love Kari Anderson's tapes that are inspired by yoga, Pilates, and dance. Angles, Lines, and Curves is the first, and more challenging (but rather short) is the floorwork section on her Danceworks tape. It took me a long time to work up to being able to do a couple of those moves well. I'm looking forward to getting her Angles, Lines, and Curves 2 when my budget recovers. --Karen

You flow through the poses faster and do pushups in between up and down dog. I also have Baron Baptiste 3 video series which is also power yoga. I like Bryan's style better (plus he's a hottie!) ;-)

I definately use both Pilates and Yoga to compliment my strength training. My favorite Pilates tapes are by Jennifer Kreis. I also really enjoy the Moira Stott Intermediate and Advanced tapes. The beginner one is just too easy.

I agree with the other posters about Brian Krest's yoga tapes. They are very challenging and great for flexibility.

I do find I don't get the same intensity from as I do from the Cathe tapes. But it is a great cross train to those tapes. I really enjoy the Pilates for a good abdominal workout. The exercises really concentrate on the 'core' or 'powerhouse'. I have never really enjoyed ab work much, so this is a good way for me to work the abs.

I like your name! I play tennis too. Although I seem to take a break between Aug/Sept. (Trying to squeeze in the last of the golfing for the season!) I'll start up indoors in Oct.

Thanks ofr the input. I've wondered about Brian Krest's videos.

Take time to enjoy those who matter most to you & do all things in moderation :)

Bryan's first 3 videos are beautifully made. I was previewing the new ones and thought " What happened???" They looked very CRUNCH style and he kept yapping. I'm sure they are very good PY workouts but not as attractive as the original series. That one came together NICELY.

R_Lam, on Bryan's new stuff, I couldn't agree with you more. I just wanted to take a sock and stuff it in his mouth. Also, he had this lame little "butt-cheeks to the sky" rhyme that was just so dorky. But you know what ...all in all, it was an excellent workout. And I find I really don't look, as much as listen.

PS I miss his long hair and bare chest, terribly.:*

I'm definitely a Pilates person, and highly recommend Ana Caban's Pilates workouts. I use her Intermediate workout religiously, but I've heard her other workouts are good also.
