pilates and weight training question

For those of you who practice both pilates and weight training. How many days per week do you do of each? Also, how do you space them out as to not overwork the muscles? I really love pilates and weight training, but I'm not sure how to incorporate both into my weekly routine.
 
Hello Collete! Well that depends on the results that you want in your body. I do weight training 3-4 a week and 1 day a week for Pilates Core Conditioning. I just use Pilates as cross training. I prefer the results I get with weights, but Pilates does wonders for my midsection. On the other hand, one of my friends prefers the "lean" muscles and definition she gets from Pilates so she does Pilates 3 days a week and 1 day a week she does a total body weight training workout.
 
i used to do both...i did two days of each a week.....

I used pilates for my ab work and did not do any other ab work with my weight training.

I think Pilates is an excellent compliment for weight training.
And once you are very familiar with Pilates you can build it into what ever you are doing.

I landed up replacing pilates with yoga because a lot of pilates moves came out of yoga .. Then, yoga turned out to be such an excellent strength AND flexibility workout that i replaced weights with it too!

but i am adding some weights back because i think my energy level was much better when i was doing weights.
