personal trainer question

I'm thinking about becoming a personal trainer, but there are a few things that I'm wondering about. I want to get certified through ACE and would do this by getting the home study course and going to the 2 day exam review before the test. My question is this: What do gyms look for when hiring a personal trainer? Will the fact that I'm certified be enough, or do they prefer someone with a degree in exercise science or a similar field? I have a college degree, but it's in Art which doesn't help.
:-hmmm

My husband's ex-wife is a personal trainer. She took the ACE course and then got a job working at a health club. She had to go to a lot of seminars for further education. She does not have a college degree of any kind. Once you pass the ACE test and are hired you may be required to take additional courses or attend seminars depending on where you work.
