Perfect pair of jeans

horsing around

Cathlete
Is there such a thing? I am slightly pear shaped, so I'm smaller in the waist than through my thighs. Having better luck now that companies finally realize women come in different shapes and offer a curvy fit. Any recommendations?

Thanks, Lisa

I don't think "perfect" and jeans go together, but.... I will say the ones with a little stretch in them are certainly better fitting and more flattering than they used to be..... good luck!

I recently bought a pair of GAPs new Perfect Boot Cut jeans. I must say, they lived up to the name. They fit great, and I would also describe myself as slightly pear-shaped. I went and bought 2 more pairs. I never do that!

My absolute favorite brand of jeans (just recently discovered!) is Lucky Brand Jeans! They fit like a glove and have just a touch of stretch in them! If you can find an outlet, the better, because they are quite expensive! I got a pair for Christmas and can't wait to get more!

Lisa - I'm built the same way. I also like Lucky Brand jeans, particularly the class and rider fits. TJ Maxx sometimes has them.

I also like Old Navy's Sweetheart jean in a boot cut.

Nothing comes between me and my calvin klein

Calvin Klein Bootcut

I used to wear these in my early twenties. I am 35 now and just bought a pair. Love Love them. It also helps that I have lost 15lbs with sts. :D

Good timing, because I just bought 5 new pairs of Levis today. Levis are the only ones that I can buy that fit me in a way that is comfy and doesn't make me feel instantly fat. lol It's been a long time since I bought new ones, so today I took the time to really shop all the different (and new) varieties they offer. Boot cut, straight cut, relaxed, no-gap, stretch, curvy, slender, and on and on. My faves are the 550 boot cut, curvy, no-gap with a bit of stretch! lol That's a mouthful.

Gayle, Tricia what is the name of the Lucky jean fit you gals wear? I have an outlet by me. I went to check them out a few months ago and the jeans I saw looked like the ones that show plumber cracks or pubic hair. I'm more of an apple shape with little to no waist and 5 feet tall so I have so many things against me when finding jeans. The jeans that I have found that I've loved have been Joes Jeans. They are ridiculously expensive, . . for me anyway about $150-$175 a pair. They are cut higher in the back side so as to prevent plumbers crack and not so low in the front. They also are great for lengthening the legs.

Oh, . nevermind Gayle I just saw the fit you like. I also love Old Navy's Sweetheart jean. I think the main this is to try them on because no 2 pairs of jeans tend to fit the same.

Everyone is different. I have a pair of old navy bootcut that I bought back in 2000 and they are my most favorite pair and I always get compliments when I wear them.

The only jeans that fit are size 18 boys from Old Navy loose, straight leg. Even though they are a little loose in the waist. These jeans fit my quads and length is great too. Plus they are cheaper. Wish I had bought a 2nd pair. Also my high school Levis fit.......

I'm tall AND I have a big booty and a small waist, so buying jeans def sucks. The only ones I really like are the from Gap: Curvy Flare and Long & Lean in tall. They both have a little stretch to them. I usually buy them at the outlets to save some $$!

Here is the perfect solution....go to a jeans store. I live outside Boston and we have tons of stores that just mainly carry jeans. All different brands and price ranges. Just go in and ask for help. Don't even think about the size. They will put you in a dressing room and just start handing you jeans. You try them and I guarantee that one pair will be perfect. I started doing this a few years ago at the Lucky store and now it is the only way I buy jeans. Good luck!

For years my favorite has been GAP Classic fit bootcut. Unfortunately, not too long ago I tried to buy my usual pair only to find they've changed the style since I last bought them. Isn't that what always happens?

WHBM jeans fit me really well too. Their Blanc style is perfect for me.

Check out zafu.com I entered in my stats (I'm a pear too) and it matched me up with a "perfect" pair of jeans, incidently they were Lucky brand!

Thank you!

I appreciate all the suggestions everyone made. I ended up finding a pair that no-one mentioned, so I thought it was worth posting. They are DKNY Soho Jeans. Macy's carries them. The Soho has some stretch in them. They fit nice in the waist. I'm 5'4" and their regular length was a little long even with heels or boots. I can sew, so I just hemmed them.

A few people asked about Lucky Brand. I have a pair of the Easy Rider and they are OK. I think I'd like them more if it wasn't for the wash on them. Since I ordered them online and got a discount I kept them. The DKNY are about $30 cheaper than the Lucky Brand.

I think I'm set for a while (unless I find a great bargain). Thanks again.

Janie - The Sweet 'n Low are the ones I have. I don't like anything directly up at my waist since I am so short-waisted! I, too, don't have much of a curvy waist, so having them sit at my hip, makes me look curvier than I really am and they really do fit wonderfully! I've had Levis, Old Navy, Gap, etc. and nothing fits like these! Of course, there are tons of different fits, so take the time to try as many as possible!

Lisa,

My build is pear-shaped, too, and I always had a problem with jeans that would fit my hips but then gap at the waist. I recommend checking out the Lucky Brand Easy Rider fit or Ann Taylor Loft's Julie fit.

ETA: Oops, somehow I missed that you already have the Easy Riders. Will check out the DKNYs next time I'm at Macy's.

I really love these Buckle jeans! Here is the link:

I also love the Gap's Long N Lean and David Kahn original and Nikki jeans too! These Wendi jeans right now are my absolute favorite. The waistband is different too, I'm not sure what they've done but it fits perfect against my waist, no need for a belt. It is really hard for me to find great fitting jeans because of my height (5'11''), smaller waist, bigger thighs but these jeans fit and look great without looking like "mom" jeans! :)
