Pentgenarians & Beyond: W/B 8/31

Good morning,

Today I did High Reps, upper body premix, (no core). I didn't see how I could do that after HC yesterday. Whew, it was hot in my workout room, even with a dehumidifier and the fan going.

Valerie, Have a great vacation! I don't think Judy's or Lori's pics worked here...something about this site, if you want to post pics you really need to bring them over from a picture site. I have the Getting Started HC DVD and believe me, it is really hard for me. I would bet you could get through the 3 workouts a lot faster with all the yoga and stuff you do. It's a killer core workout.

Josie, sometimes you just need one of those kinds of days!

Lori, you are a master at that Workout Blender...I have never tried it, I don't have the patience or the creativity to put something together. I would fuss over it and it would stress me out, so that I never did the workout!

Hi to Lynda, Judy & Caitlin,

Work, then home to crash. I am still trying to get more volunteers to work the trial this coming weekend. If I don't, I am not doing this job again.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I decided to start running again. I miss it a lot and every time I see runners go by I get a bit jealous. My DF and I ran 3.4 miles this morning and I plan to go to the gym and take my body pump class. The run felt great and we did very well, we actually surprised ourselves :)

We plan on running three times per week early in the morning.

Deb, I'm glad that you are back on the workout wagon again.

Valerie, have a great vacation.

Lori, you are such a handy woman ;)

Hi to Garance, Judy and Caitlin!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

Judy, so sorry about your father-in-law. I hope your husband feels he did everything he could for him.

Yesterday I did High Reps (65 min.) and took Max for a 3 mile walk after dinner. Today I did Jazzercise Dance Hiit (48 min.).

We bought a 2014 CRV yesterday and paid about the same as we did for our 2005 with a trade-in 9 years ago. DH is actually getting 400 dollars for his 1992 Accord with over 100,000 miles on it. We bought it used for one of our sons when he was off to college, so it has been around the bend several times.

Very humid here today and it feels more like summer than the beginning of fall.

IKEA may be a Swedish firm, but I think most of their stuff is made in China these days. My sons bought a lot of furnishings from them when they were in Boston. Very simple and clean lines to their styling.

Good evening ladies,

Today was a rest day. Did not sleep well last night at all. Gee what a surprise.

Valerie...have a great vacation! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Lynda...congrats on the new vehicle. Funny on the $400 for the 1992! I have high reps but can't remember if I have ever actually did it. Obviously it has been a while if I can't even remember it.

Josie...great job on the run. I wish I enjoyed it but I do not at all. Perhaps if I had someone to run with I would feel differently.

Deb...been humid here also. My workout room is in the basement and it is always so cool which is nice. I do have a dehumidifier also just to keep it dry as possible. I still feel intimidated by HC.

Judy...thinking of you.

Hi to Caitlin!

Good morning, and Happy Hump Day!

For a second I thought it was Tuesday, but was happy to remember that it is Wednesday, Yay!

Today I did a Sprint 8 workout on the treadmill and HC#2. I don't think I will ever master the side plank. :(.

One of my long time co-workers from our Toronto office was killed yesterday in Canada. He was on the highway, and for some reason drove right over the line and into a tank type truck. He was dead at the scene. Not a lot of information yet, but I found out late last night. I am sure the offices will be in shock today. I've worked with him for over 20 years.

Josie, good for you for starting to run again. What made you stop before?

Lynda, Happy New Car! Do you like it?

Lori, I hear you on the Sunday Night ( or in this case Monday night) syndrome. I take a Benadryl every night when I go to bed. It really helps me relax. I was tossing around last night a bit, but that was because I was thinking about my co-worker, and his family. So sad.

Hi to Valerie, and Judy,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain ch, ba, sh (51:16), and last night took Max for our 3 miler. I think I need to buy a reflective vest of some kind because it's getting a bit dark out there after dinner.

Deb, how terrible! One can only guess, but it may have been some distraction or sleepiness to make such a terrible mistake. Drove the new car home today and yes, I really enjoyed it.

Lori, I thought I should try to vary my total body resistance training, because I was doing Flextrain all the time. I am being very careful with High Reps because it does call for the barbell on the shoulders, but it's lighter than I was using for STS, so I haven't felt any shoulder twinges.

Josie, that's great you are going back to running. Whatever feels good!

Good evening ladies!

Today I was really really busy at work. I am the meeting planner for our company and we have a 3 day conference coming up at Universal in less than two weeks. 225 people...tons of planning. This week I needed to send all the booklets and info to all attendees so it was a lot of coordination and team work at our office. When I came home it was a heavy bag kind of evening. Needed to get the tension out. :). This is one part of my job that I enjoy but at the same time can't wait for it to be over!

Deb...I am so sorry to hear about your coworker. Very strange that he just swirved into the truck. Perhaps it was a heartattack? Never thought of Benadryl. At this point I will try anything. Buying some tomorrow! Side planks are tough. I remember being so happy when I was able to do them.

Lynda...I only use a barbell for leg workouts. Never liked using one for upper body so I have always substituted the dumbbell equivalent exercise. Even with STS. I have a reflective vest I use this time of year. I live on a road with hardly any street lights. I also carry a flashlight.

Judy...hope you are well.

Hi to Josie, Valerie and Caitlin!

Good morning,

I had a lousy night's sleep so no workout this morning. :(. Sunday night syndrome on Wednesday...

Lynda, is the new car yours or your DH's?

Lori, still no word on my co-worker. Everyone is speculating that it must have been something medical that caused him to do that. I guess the autopsy will tell. As for barbells, I do not like them either. She uses one in High Reps, and I just used a body bar, like that it is covered in soft material and doesn't hurt my shoulders when it is placed on them.

Speaking of autopsies, I finished the 5th and last season of Six Feet Under. What a great show that was, and the end was terrific. They must have known at the time that this was the last season. It was a fantastic ending. I think Valerie is the only other one here that watched it. Now to figure out what to watch next. Has anyone watched The Shield?

Hi to Josie, Judy, and the vacationing Valerie,

Work today, then am off tomorrow, to help get ready for the show this weekend,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did After Burn (54:00) and took Maxie for a 3 mile walk after dinner last night.

Deb, the car is definitely mine. Now DH will use the 2005 CRV when he needs it. He more often drives one of his trucks. I never watched the Shield, but I vaguely remember it receiving excellent reviews. When I was doing Brazil Butt Lift, I remember how the instructor helped ease into a side plank by first putting one arm folded over the back waist (front forearm down), then turning to the side and then finally raising your arm up. It really worked for me, so that's how I do them.

Lori, I have the Firm barbell, which is padded and works well with High Reps. Your job sounds very stressful. I remember how overwrought I would get when I was planning conferences at Williams or even making arrangements for speakers. I cannot imagine being an event planner.

Good evening ladies!

No work out today. Another very busy crazy day. Ended up working late and when I came home DH had a glass of wine ready for me so that pretty much ended any thoughts of a workout!

Deb...I know those sleepless nights all to well. I have heard six feet under was pretty good. one of these days I'll get around to it. Enjoy your day off!

Lynda...yes my job is stressful. They made me meeting planner on top of everything else I do. I am office manager and executive assistant to the CEO. He is a control freak which makes everything 10 times worse. he came on board last year. I have been with my company close to 22 years and this past year is aqqqqthe first time I can truly say I hate my job. I have always loved it which is kind of sad. Everyone is miserable. we are all just hoping he leaves soon! Sorry for the rant. just one of those days.

ok...off to finish my wine! Have a good night all!

Good morning,

I am off today to help set up for the trial. Starting to wonder what I was thinking.

Lynda, thanks for the plank tip. I went on the net and there are a few videos showing how to start in a more modified way and to build up to them. Don't you love having a new car? So clean and that new car smell!

Lori, sometimes you just have to sit back and chill ( with wine or whatever makes you chill) and blow off the workout. Your DH must have known you needed that.

I was playing around on Amazon Prime and found that they now have The Good Wife Season 5 up for free!! Yay! And it is funny because I put a low bid in for the DVD set last weekend on Ebay, lost the bid, and last night I was thinking of going back to bid on another one, got side tracked and found it free on Prime...:).

Judy, how are things going?

Hi to Josie, and the vacationing Valerie,

off for more coffee, hope to get a workout in before going to the club.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did the Lower Body Express premix on Turbo Barre (52:00), and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

Lori, your complaints about your boss remind of Josie's travails when she suddenly had to deal with a new administrator. I think it finally drove Josie to retire.

Deb, season 5 was incredible. I believe Margulies won an Emmy for best actress in a drama series this year. You won't be disappointed. I guess that means season 6 is not too far away from broadcasting. Yep, nothing like a new car to lift one's spirits. Sounds like you are going to have a busy weekend with the dogs.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Good evening ladies!

Another extremely busy day at the office. Went in early and worked late. No work out this afternoon nor when I got home. DH had another glass of wine ready for me. Boy do I love that man! :). I plan to catch up on workouts this weekend. Tomorrow definitely doing Cathe's Live workout for this week which was Total Body Sculpt. Then maybe a spin or heavy bag workout.

Lynda...I so wish I could retire! We have been talking about moving to Florida. My DH's parents live in Navarre and we love that area. It is about an hour from Pensicola. In the next couple of years we hope to get serious about it. Oh would I love this. We are visiting them in October and while there it will only makes us want to do it sooner!

Deb...good luck at the show! The good wife is one series I have been wanted to watch! I have heard really good things about it.

Have a great night all!

Good morning,

We need to be out of the house by 6:45 to get there and be ready for the start of the trial. Hope all of my worker volunteers show up!

Not sure where my mind is these days. You know how I thought I lucked out by losing that bid on Ebay for the Good Wife Season 5 DVD set? Well I got home yesterday and guess what was in the mail? Yep, I must have done a "Buy it Now" thing on Ebay last weekend and totally forgot about doing it. I ended up with not only 1 set, but the seller mistakenly sent me 2 of them!. I only paid for one, not sure what happened there. Maybe sell them both on Ebay and get my money back? I certainly don't want to send one back and pay for the shipping..

Lori, I know you will catch up on the workouts, and after a day like you had, you need to rest. Your DH knows best!

Hi to Josie, Judy & Valerie,

Wish me luck with Miss Kylee today!

Have a good weekend!

Hi Ladies,

On Thursday I ran 3.4 miles and went to body pump. Friday was a rest day, today I ran 3 miles and will be taking a body pump class later on. I will be going to Palm Springs on Sunday to celebrate two of my brother's birthdays. My mom and dad are joining us at the Agua Caliente casino resort and spa. I can't wait! I will be back Tuesday evening.

Lori, Garance is right about my supervisor. Once she started the whole office was miserable and I decided to retire six months earlier than I had planned. The witch is still there even though the whole office has complained.

Deb, good luck!

Judy, you and your family are in my thoughts.

Hi to Caitlin an Valerie!

Josie

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your thoughts, I appreciate them.

We were out of town for my father in law's funeral. He was originally from North east Indiana and that is where he was buried. Everything went as well as it could. Now we are home and trying to get back to normal. I definitely need to get back to a normal workout schedule.
